Surrender Your Dreams, by Blaine Lee Pardoe, is the twenty-third novel in the MechWarrior: Dark Age series. It was first published in December 2006 by Roc Books and was later republished in March 2022 by Catalyst Game Labs as a BattleTech Legends title.
The novel covers the covert efforts of The Republic of the Sphere and the Fidelis against the Republic's enemies after the declaration of Fortress Republic.
Notably the two epilogue chapters have since been declared noncanon as written because of clashes with the universe timeline as it evolved since the book was first published (see Canonicity below). Both chapters have been removed from the re-released 2022 edition of the book.[1]

Canonicity
The novel meets all citeria for canon and is indeed considered canonical.
However, its last two chapters are an epilogue dated "Fortress Republic +21 Years" and "21 years after Fortress Republic", respectively, in the epigraph, which at the time of publication was the far future of the BattleTech universe. The second, final epilogue chapter narrates the passing of 131-year-old Paul Moon, the Custos of the Fidelis, who passes on his position to a successor, after Jonah Levin has confirmed that the Fidelis had fulfilled their unspecified obligation to Devlin Stone and are now free to choose their destiny.
Line Developer Herbert A. Beas stated in a 2013 BattleChat that "We are not necessarily considering the epilogue for Surrender Your Dreams valid. It would be too restrictive to upcoming plans."
The BattleTech timeline indeed underwent changes in subsequent publications, and as of 21 April 2021 Line Developer Ray Arrastia expressly confirmed that the epilogue was now considered noncanon (also archived on this article's Talk page). It remains unclear from the context if that only refers to the timestamp, or to the depicted events as a whole.
Paul Moon was trueborn in 3019, suggesting the epilogue with him dying at age 131 to take place in 3150. However, the events of the Kwamashu Incident take place at "+860 days" after Fortress Republic. This implies that the "Fortress Republic" date is set in 3135, especially as the first chapter of book two has no "+/-" date and recounts the raising of the Fortress Wall. This in turn suggests that the epilogue (at "+21 years") takes places in 3156, with Paul Moon's stated age at his death being in error. This is additionally supported by the novel noting that Damien Redburn had died years prior to these events, in 3151.[2]
