The T-892 system is an inhabited Deep Periphery system of unknown affiliation.[1]
Contents
System Description
The system designated as T-892 on Star League era maps is known to be located approximately six jumps from Erewhon, with the nearest relatively well-known inhabited system to T-892 being the Deep Periphery world of Cambridge.[1]
System History
It is unknown when the T-892 system was colonized; the first group to become aware that T-892 was inhabited was Clan Goliath Scorpion, when a Seeker group comprised of three JumpShips transporting the Eighth Scorpion Grenadiers and the First Eridani Lancers visited the system, only to find themselves under attack from a Peregrine-class WarShip.[1]
The Goliath Scorpions ships were able to jump away from T-892 without being destroyed - although one JumpShip, the CGS Whisper, suffered a cracked KF drive and had to be abandoned along with its cargo. The Seekers had been exploring along the far reaches of the Clan Jade Falcon Occupation Zone, seeking remnants or remains of the former Periphery nation known as the Rim Worlds Republic when they visited T-892; due to the eruption of the Wars of Reaving the Goliath Scorpions didn't follow up on the discovery by the Seekers until 3077. The expedition in 3077 journeyed to the system near T-892 in which the Whisper had been abandoned, only to discover no trace of the JumpShip.[1]
The identity or allegiance of those inhabiting T-892 is unknown;[1] the presence of a Peregrine-class corvette in the system is particularly unusual, as the Peregrine was a lightly-armed WarShip class which massed less than 200,000 tons and which was only known to have been manufactured by Clan Jade Falcon. Only a handful of Peregrines were constructed by the Jade Falcons, and those corvettes were manufactured during the period of Clan history known as the Golden Century. The only other known sighting of a Peregrine in the Deep Periphery was the positive identification of a Peregrine as one of at least five distinct jump-capable vessels known to be operated by the mysterious faction known as the Green Ghosts. By the mid-3090s the Peregrine operated by the Green Ghosts had only been observed in one recorded encounter, which had occurred in the early 3070s in the Deep Periphery.[2] With no definitive proof of the allegiance of the inhabitants of T-892, it is possible - but in no way certain - that the Peregrine encountered by the Goliath Scorpions at T-892 was the same Peregrine believed to be operated by the Green Ghosts.
