In the Cracked Canopy, a Solaris City MechWarrior bar in the International Zone, Sedge, the bartender, began working. Soon, an old MechWarrior arrives and asks for a drink. When his attention focused on a wall covered by all class of items (unit patchs, photos, armor pieces, even old weapons, he asks what it is, and Sedge tells him it's the Memory Wall, a commemorative place for the remembrance of lost friends and destroyed units. The client, named Manny Totske, tooks an old patch from a pockett: an Waco Rangers patch, and, reluctantly, began telling his patchs history. Manny had joined the Rangers in the year 3050, and took the Death Oath like anybody, but, for him, its was little more than an old joke. After arriving at Coventry, tensions between the Rangers and Wolf's Dragoons began to gave trouble even before they join the battle. When the Rangers and Crazy Eights were hold in reserve, the Rangers leader, Wayne Rogers, blamed the Dragoons. When finally both units were send to the battle, Manny's lance, one from Mace McCarthy's company, was on a flank. He piloted his Marauder, Ariadne Sherbow, with a Griffin, Parker LaBelle in a Withworth and Hector Shirotan in a Dervish. The Rangers ignored Caradoc Trevena's recon company warnings and entered the Dalles. The Clan Jade Falcon 'Mechs made rain missiles over them. McCarthy ordered his men to stand their ground, fearful of the Dragoons laughing of them. Mace's lance attempted to hold, but a shot to the cockpit killed Ariadne instantly, and after Mace downed her killer, a Masakari destroyed Parker and Hector's Mechs, killing them both in seconds. McCarthy ignored the pleas of Mace, but after his 'Mech was downed, Totske ordered his company to retreat. During the retreat, it was a total chaos, with the Falcons slaughtering the Rangers and Crazies. When they were surrounded and trapped, Trevena's people intervention was the only thing than saved them, and the Dragoons assistance. During the rest of the campaign, the remaining Rangers only played a minimal role. After the Falcons have retreat, and their prisoners liberated, Trevena knocked colonel Rogers without saying a word. When McCarthy blamed Manny for the disaster, by his retreat order, and refused to recognize the Rangers mistakes, Manny hit him as well, before leave the unit. After cutting his patch, Manny invited to drink two Eridani Light Horse warriors to celebrate his freedom. After finishing the history, Manny tells Sedge how he had spent thirty years in the unit Tooth of Ymir, and now he is returning home. He thanked the bartender for listening him, and leave the patch for the Wall. Weeks later, Sedge added the patch to the wall, along with a picture showing all Manny's lance members, and a fragment of 'mech armor as a headstone, with the foundation and destruction of the Rangers years, and the phrase "Blind Arrogance killed us", before commenting how Wayne Waco's hate infected his unit, and the real Rangers were destroyed in Coventry: his attack on Outreach was only the last twitch to his corpse.
