Talk:3550

I think this entry is a mistake.

Even if Kerensky transmitted from Terra, it should only take 500 years to reach the edges of the Sphere. The message had to have been transmitted before the First Succession War, so around 2750 AD. A 500 LY radius equals an Inner Sphere diameter of 1,000 Light Years. So, at the speed of light from Terra, any radio message would take 500 years to reach the edge. Thus, the message would arrive around 3250 AD, not 3550.

The number 3550, if accurate, translates to a radius from Terra of 800 Ly, with the total Inner Sphere diameter being 1,600 Light Years.

My measurements of the 3025 map of the Inner Sphere and Periphery only gives a maximum diameter of 1,200 LY. Thus a 600 LY radius, So the message would take 600 years from a date of about 2750 AD, which would be 3350 AD at most. NOT 3550.

I base my estimate of the Kerensky Message origin date at the latest date BEFORE the First Succession War. It would have only taken months, a couple of years, or at most a decade of crumbling arguments and negotiations before the Houses started fighting over who would control the remains of the Star League.

The three Succession Wars happen over a three century period of time (300 years). So, Kerensky's Message has to occur before that period.

So, 300 years to the 3025 and 3050 dates. So, if the Inner Sphere is at maximum 1,200 LY across, and 600 LY radius, then 600, minus 300, leaves 300 years. Message arrives at farthest Inner Sphere planet around 3350, NOT 3550.

The entry is not a mistake. It is a reflection of the information given in canon sources. If the developer issues a correction, it can be added to the article.--Cache (talk) 17:28, 10 April 2021 (EDT)
