:I'm not going to argue this point. Instead, what I'm going to argue is that we can refer to the ARDC in a more ambiguous way than directly referring to it as an independent nation, which it was not (if only a technicality). No character ever referenced the ARDC (that I know of) as an independent nation, so we shouldn't either, regardless of whether or not it acted as though it were. Perhaps the only exception is that it is noted on maps as a region of space, including its planets being a FedCom yellow on some maps. Morgan never claimed independent status, it was never granted, so I don't see how we can actually call it a sovereign nation here. --[[User:Scaletail|Scaletail]] 19:53, 16 June 2008 (CDT)

I just checked some sources. You're absolutely correct about the ARDC not being referenced as a nation. I'm not sure why I brought up the point to begin with.

Scaletail, while you are correct that the ARDC was not a nation in the traditional sense of the term, it was an independent nation in all but name. My reasons in point:

  • The region was under the direct rule of Morgan Kell for the duration of the FedCom Civil War, with Morgan as its leader instead of the Archon.
  • Although technically Lyran space, the ARDC leadership did not respond to any directives from Archon Katherine Steiner-Davion (which would have made them traitors).
  • The region of space maintained its own distinctive military and bureaucracy.

Because of these three points, I believe that it should be considered a de facto independent nation and referenced to as such. --Workerbee 18:24, 16 June 2008 (CDT)
