Talk:Bristol

Issues

I received this message on one of the forums:

According to Wolf Pack pp. 128, Bristol is not on the I.S. maps and it was the hiding place for the Wolf Dragoons' supply cache. This causes serious problems since all of your sources show it as being on the I.S. maps.
This also means that the entry on MacKenzie Wolf needs updated to show that he was killed in the Bristol system.

Can anyone confirm this and correct the page? Thanks. -BobTheZombie (talk) 13:30, 11 January 2015 (PST)

The Bristol system described in Wolf Pack is an uninhabited system in the Periphery, in which the Wolf's Dragoons cached a lot of equipment before entering the Inner Sphere. The Bristol system described in this article is a different system - a fairly routine Inner Sphere system. Your correspondent seems to think the two systems are the same, which they aren't. It's far from the first time we've ended up with two locations with the same name - look at Albion, York, Victoria, Alexandria, etc. If you look at the articles on the Wolf Dragoons WarShips like the Nelson they highlight that the cache was in the Periphery. We don't have an article specifically on here about the Bristol cache, though. I'm not sure if there's enough information to write a system article - ClanWolverine101 is probably the person to ask, as he spends most of his editing time producing Wolf's Dragoons related articles. That's interesting. Okay, I'll pass along the message. Thanks for answering! -BobTheZombie (talk) 10:57, 17 January 2015 (PST)
I have the book, it's in storage, but i certain can looked up if you wish a correction made. There could be a second Bristol. I'd have to look at my records. My maps i've found so far show Bristol in the Inner Sphere, but it the world the cache is in the Periphery, then its just world that Dragoons internally named the "Bristol". Nice way to distract would be lostech hunters and intelligence angenies to where the Dragoon's true warehouse world was. I've tried to look at the older Dragoon sourcebook and didnt't see the civil war between the Dragoons get cover which was sparked by mackenzie's death at Bristol. Interstellar Expeditions book does not list Bristol, so its why went with informally it was internal name world than public. This article Bristol is NOT the Dragoon's world that stored their weaponry. -- Wrangler (talk) 21:01, 17 January 2015 (PST)
I'll just note here that an article now exists for the other Bristol system, which is located in the Periphery and is distinct from the Bristol covered by this article. Tosta Dojen (talk) 12:34, 2 November 2020 (EST)
