Talk:Elemental

Revision as of 21:58, 24 January 2008 by Haruspex (talk | contribs) (Explanation)

This pages need a little cleanup indeed. It amalgamates the Elemental Battle Armor and the Elemental infantry. The difference must be shown because many people consider Elemental as always wearing Elemental Battle Armor (dubbed Toads by Hanse Davion). Elemental Battle Armor is also called Elemental Suit. Elementals can wear other armors such Hauberk Battle Armor, Gnome Battle Armor, Kage Battle Armor and either the so-called Clan Battle Armor. Each being an evolution of the Elemental Battle Armor concept.
I request your agreement to create entries for each type of battle armor and letting this page as the presentation of (only) Clan genetically bred infantry. --FIVE-one 13:13, 9 December 2007 (CST)

I really appreciate your attempt to get group consensus before making a major change and think you've identified something that I agree needs to be done. Be Bold! Go for it. (Generally, if there is a discussion about the issue, you should check to see if the consensus is different than your proposal, but in this case, and based on your past edits, I really have no concerns with any ideas you may come up with.
I think your idea of this article focusing on the character type makes sense and a separate article (maybe Elemental (battle armor)) can be referenced at the top, for anyone mistakenly coming to the new version of the article.
Cheers! --Revanche (talk|contribs) 13:59, 9 December 2007 (CST)
You totaly understood what I meant ;). I'm glad and proud to receive your approval. I will begin by gathering infos about Elemental suit via my sourcebooks, and I'll start from this point. I will also need to buy Field Manual : Wardens and Field Manual : Crusader for more infos about other Battle Armors. I will also start by cleaning this entry, and then I will need to create other. However I don't know how to create another entry...

Ok, if I understand you correctly, you are saying you don't know how to build a new article (on battle armor). Let me help. First off, i found out that the article for the Elemental battle armor was already created (atElemental (battle armor)). Secondly, well over a year ago, I created a step-by-step method that easily (hopefully) shows you how to build articles like this...just for you! Go to Help:Contents and look for "Quickly Create - A Battle Armor Article" and click on the "canon" link.
If you still have questions, please contact me on my talk page and I'll assist you. I'm very interested in seeing how my process works on a new editor, so the feedback will be appreciated. Cheers! --Revanche (talk|contribs) 15:37, 9 December 2007 (CST)
Well, I added some contents to the article, and by the way some cleaning. Please tell me what you do think about it. --FIVE-one 14:19, 17 December 2007 (CST)
Definitely improving. However, one point of note: like 'Mechs aren't known as "[[Locust BattleMech]]" and "[[Slayer ASF]]," in my opinion, articles for Battle Armor should be by the name only (except in cases where the name is too similar to other articles, in which case they get "(Battle Armor)" added after the title. If you feel the term "battle armor" is right for the wording, then use it, but outside the wikilinks. Does that make sense? --Revanche (talk|contribs) 19:21, 17 December 2007 (CST)
Right, I will modify it when I'll be back home. I was wondering about that question in fact. --FIVE-one 03:50, 18 December 2007 (CST)
Modifications done. Please tell me what you think about this entry now. I hope the "cleaning" page-top would be unapplicable now. --FIVE-one 14:34, 19 December 2007 (CST)
Yeah, I'd say my expectations have mostly been met. Question: is there a difference between Clan Battle Armor and the Elemental style? If not, can we redirect (within the link) to the Elemental BA article? --Revanche (talk|contribs) 20:28, 19 December 2007 (CST)
Yes there is a difference between the so-called Clan Battle Armor and the Elemental Battle Armor (to avoid amalgamate, I call this Elemental Suit or "Toad" as the Inner Sphere soldiers call it). The Clan Battle Armor is in fact an evolution from the Elemental Suit. See it by yourself : http://www.warrenborn.com/Unit.php?ID=D020 and this is the Elemental suit : http://www.warrenborn.com/Unit.php?ID=FP028 . Field Manual : Crusaders or Warden show the difference between those BAs. If I remember well, the Clan Battle Armor is a Clan Nova Cat evolution project of the Elemental Suit. --FIVE-one 04:09, 20 December 2007 (CST)
Roger. Thanks for clearing that up. Sounds like it deserves its own article.
I'm going to put your suggestion (regarding this article not needing the cleanup tag) up at RFC. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 07:29, 20 December 2007 (CST)

Editing

I noticed Haruspex deleted some information I added to this article while editing. Willingly or not, I would suggest, before doing such a modification to ask in the talk page. I don't even understand why those information have been deleted too... I hold some of those from a sourcebook, and others in the official Mechwarrior : Dark Age book. --FIVE-one 11:56, 24 January 2008 (CST)

I thought there was some confusion between Elemental warriors and Elemental armor. The last paragraph especially. That was why I made those changes. The cleanup tag was still there, so I thought the article had to be cleaned (shortened). I will check on the talk page next time before making major changes. Haruspex 19:58, 24 January 2008 (CST)
