Talk:MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries/High Reward Quests

System Planets[edit]

I've noticed a few of us adding the planets for each system. I discovered that, unlike the campaign missions, it might just be random. Twice now I've spotted a different planet than what's listed here. Can anyone corroborate this? If so, it might be better to remove them. --Csdavis715 (talk) 21:44, 11 March 2022 (EST)

Employer/Targeting[edit]

I'm about to do another playthrough of all HRQ's in the game + DLC's and I thought the one thing that could be useful is a clear mention of who your employer is and who you are targeting. While often it's clear from reading the mission brief, some are not always intuitive (Avalon Shipping is a subsidiary of Davion, not Independents; Lagom-gumi yakuza is a subsidiary of Independents, not Kurita; etc.). It would be better for quick referencing and helping players if they have preferred factions they want to fight for/against. What do you think? --Csdavis715 (talk) 04:24, 3 January 2022 (EST)

Yes, need to find a middle ground, retain the employer names and factional reputation to be earned. Cyc (talk) 04:57, 3 January 2022 (EST)
All done. --Csdavis715 (talk) 05:23, 19 January 2022 (EST)

Shipping Disruption[edit]

Mission 1: 315 Tonnage Limit, Difficulty 70 Demolition mission exclusively against DuraPaq's transport facility on Kilarney, damaging the Gienah built Land Trains will render the contract null and void.

There are no "Land Trains" in this mission and the contract makes zero mention of these trains. Where is this information from?

Mission 2: 340 Tonnage Limit, Difficulty 75 Raid Mission against communication relays on Schererville to prevent a spy leaking word to DuraPaq that Gienah was behind the Kilarney strike and avoid shattering the joint venture entirely.

There doesn't appear to be a mission 2 here. After finishing mission 1, you are just told the strike succeeded and you get to claim the rewards immediately. There is no mention of any spy or follow up mission and I cannot find any evidence of this in the mechwarrior 5 editor. Can anyone confirm this? 222.164.23.15 16:52, 9 November 2021 (EST)

At work so can't dig out my screenshots but quick youtube - Mission 1 contract mentionin land trains in mission brief: https://youtu.be/UV4zGYrcSbE?t=203 and https://youtu.be/LkIf1_knzo8?t=10 / Mission 2 contract: https://youtu.be/UV4zGYrcSbE?t=928 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B74BVgo5xY8 Cyc (talk) 19:59, 9 November 2021 (EST)
I am currently floating about in the lvl 8 missions on my run through so I will double check in a day or two.--Dmon (talk) 20:26, 9 November 2021 (EST)
User is correct about the Land Trains: it mentions it in the briefing text but it doesn't come up in the gameplay. I've played the quest 7 times and never encountered this issue, so we can probably remove this from the page. However, I always get the 2nd mission, so I think the user is experiencing a bug if it is not showing up for him. -csdavis 21:28, 9 Nov 2021 (EST)
I am the original poster. Someone on discord just told me that both missions are available at the same time and its not a follow up mission, hence the confusion. 222.164.23.15 10:33, 10 November 2021 (EST)

Missing Mission[edit]

There's at least one missing, at either 5 or 6 near Frontline Support you'll also find a Davion vs. Kurita choice of "Invasion Support" (Kurita) or "Defense Support" (Davion) - came here hoping to find out the rewards for those but it's not listed. :(

Apologies, was trying to get this done prior to 27th but falling behind, partly done on those two.Cyc (talk) 02:26, 30 May 2021 (EDT)
Much appreciated for the quick fix and reply! <3 --108.201.176.168 04:18, 30 May 2021 (EDT)

Variable Tonnage and Difficulty[edit]

Reviewing recent edits, I noticed differences in tonnage limits and confirmed screenshots of those matched my original numbers so ton seems to vary - but can't see the measure that causes that. How to reflect? Tonnage Range 315-325? Difficulty seems to be static (as far as I can see) Cyc (talk) 18:28, 26 June 2021 (EDT)

Tonnage values are different for campaign and career mode. Few days ago I added Bow and Arrow and Stop the launch from career mode, now Im replaying campaign and I see different numbers. Not sure what to do... continue to correct for campaign values or ignore it? It's a secondary thing anyway, at least important thing (mechs/equipment rewards) stays same. -aY227
I was wondering about that, I thought it might of been a patch that changed them. Simplest way to do it would be to slightly change the wording so it reads "tonnage limit: 260 (campaign)/300 (career)" instead of the current "260 tonnage limit" format.--Dmon (talk) 21:02, 26 June 2021 (EDT)
Ok, I did some testing, unfortunately it looks like 3-4 last tonnage edits are my mistake - original values were ok. Terribly sorry for that (reverted). But still, career mode Hi reward contracts are different - not only tonnage but also difficulty, rewards and reputation requirements were changed. --AY227 (talk) 22:48, 26 June 2021 (EDT)
Sorry, I am only now seeing this discussion and I've spent the last week or so doing minor-to-moderate edits to all the information to reflect Campaign stats. I also fixed a lot of links and typos so I'm hesitant to just undo everything. Perhaps we can leave a note at the top that provides the disclaimer that the information is based on the Campaign playthrough and that information may vary slightly for the Career playthrough? -csdavis715 8/26/21
I feel you. I fucked up because of "no tonnage limit" mod (editing wiki with mods installed, yeah great idea) - it SOMEHOW modifies (accidentally I think) main/default tonnage values (that you can see on other screen). --AY227 (talk) 12:38, 26 August 2021 (EDT)
Guess we need to figure out how to get clean values. Even ignoring Mods changing thing, my original values were EGS era playthrough with save rechecked after the re-release... but I have the DLC. Is there a difference between a clean campaign and campaign with DLC for the non-exclusive high reward quests? Cyc (talk) 20:49, 26 August 2021 (EDT)
I only have the Core game with no mods, so I can't do Career mode if I wanted to. Maybe this is as clean as it gets? But the info for the DLC high reward quests should certainly remain as they are. -csdavis715 8/27/21 (9am Taiwan time)
Then we will go with your values being the current most accurate. We already cite there is a difference between campaign and career at the top of the article, I don't think we need to replicate everything for Career mode at the bottom aside from maybe flagging extreme differences in location/reputation level.Cyc (talk) 21:13, 26 August 2021 (EDT)
Now that I'm playing in Career Mode a lot more these days, I've noticed that the HRQ parameters and rewards are remaining static across all starting houses. So there's just one set of info for all of Career Mode. Perhaps we can create a table that lists the HRQ's in order of ascending Rep and just list the information that's changed. What do you think? I've added a section on the page so you can see. --Csdavis715 (talk) 11:51, 1 March 2022 (EST) Updated: Csdavis715 (talk) 04:36, 2 April 2022 (EDT)
