Description

The Tomahawk II, is an Assault OmniMech first produced by Clan Wolf in 3088. The ‘Mech is considered to be for its time, as to being superior 'Mech in comparison to other contemporaries within ranks of the Inner Sphere and Inner Sphere Clans. The Tomahawk II was based on early prototypes developed during the Clan Invasion era which was produced in limited numbers.

On the Tomahawk II's most notable actions was during the Clan Wolf's invasion of Tharkad in 3143. Then Beta Galaxy's Galaxy Commander Alaric Ward[3] utilized binary of Tomahawk IIs at demoralize Tharkard's Lyran defenders. He deployed this elite Binary of Tomahawk IIs which defeated elements of the 2nd Royals at Nagelring in July.

It was originally produced at Wolves' W-7 Facilities on Weingarten until the late 3130s when the Clan undertakes migration to then exFree Worlds Leagues space. Production of the 'Mech would resume on Keystone at Earthwerks-FWL, Incorporate.[4]

Armament and Capacities

The Tomahawk II is designed around use of DSAM Endo 10-Composite, which gives the design its cavernous pod capacity of 56 tons. The 'Mech powered by a 300-Rated Starfire Extra-Light Fusion Engine, giving it maximum speed of 54 kph. Protecting the engine and the Tomahawk II's other vitals is 19 tons of Advanced/3 standard armor which gives nearly maximum protection against enemy fire.

The 'Mech's Primary Configuration comes from pair of Class 30 Hyper-Assault Gauss Rifles mounted each of the 'Mech arm actuators. Protected by CASE II, both weapons have a combined eight tons of ammunition split between each of the guns giving each weapon 16 rounds fire. Backing up the main guns is pair of long reaching Extended-Range Large Lasers also found in the 'Mech arms. Pair of Medium Pulse Lasers round out the 'Mech weaponry, giving it additional firepower at close-in ranges. Five additional Double Heat Sinks are fitted in the Omni Pod bays to help the 'Mech to cope with additional weapons heat buildup.[5]

Alternate Configurations

  • Alt. Config. A
Designed around accurate LB-X Autocannons and Pulse Laser, this configuration ideal against close-in enemies and for anti-aircraft defense. The Configuration main weapons are found in the arm actuators, each arm sports a LB 10-X Autocannon and a pair of AP Gauss Rifles. While the Autocannon's two tons of ammunition is stored in the arms under the protection of CASE II, the AP's ammo is found in each of the side torsos. Energy weaponry includes pair of side-torso Large Pulse Lasers & Medium Pulse Lasers and single ER Large Laser mounted in the 'Mech head. There are seven Double Heat Sinks are fitted into this configuration. BV2(2.0)=2,697[6][7]
  • Alt. Config. B
Suggested to be for Urban Combat, the B Configuration comes with large array of energy and missile weapon systems. The Configuration's long-range firepower comes from pair of arm mounted Streak LRM-15 launchers and pair long-range torso mounted ER Large Lasers. For close-in combat, the 'Mech has pair of ER Large Pulse Lasers in the arms and a single ER Medium Laser in the torso. To help it cope with urban settings, the 'Mech sports three Jump Jets, while ten Double Heat Sinks helps with the heat. A single head-mounted Laser Anti-Missile System is fitted in the head fight off enemy missiles. BV(2.0)=3,513[8][9]
  • Alt. Config. C
Intended for the fire support role, the C Configuration carries number missile batteries and Pulse Laser for self-defense. The C sports six LRM-15 Launchers, the six are broken up with 2 in arms and side torsos. The 'Mech missile ammunition is found in the arms with 5 tons of worth of LRM munitions protected by CASE II. Backing up the 'Mech at close-ranges is three Large Pulse Lasers, each mounted in each of the 'Mech's torsos. Six additional Double Heat Sinks are provides for heat management. BV(2.0)= 2,938[10][11]

Variants

  • Tomahawk
First created in 3065, the prototype Tomahawk OmniMech first testing out with Clan Wolf's Omega Galaxy. However, it wasn't publicly clear why the 'Mech failed to enter production. It is suspected that was due in part to the Clan's troubles during the Jihad.[12]
