Description

The Trebuchet is a medium weight long-range fire support 'Mech. The model's top speed of 86.4 km/h allows the Trebuchet to provide fire support for most light and medium 'Mechs. The main drawback of the design is the limited number of reloads for its LRM launchers, with only enough ammunition for a sustained barrage of eighty seconds. Because of this limited amount of munitions, once the ammunition bins have run dry the 'Mech must defend itself with only its laser weapons.

Armament

The primary weapons on the Trebuchet are a pair of Zeus LRM-15 launchers. These missile launchers allow the 'Mech to act in its role of fire support very effectively. Backing these up for close range work is a trio of Magna Mk II Medium Lasers, which provide the Trebuchet with weapons when the LRM ammunition has been depleted and also discourages lighter 'Mechs from attempting to intercept it.[1]

Variants

  • TBT-5J - The 5J variant of the Trebuchet is a tradeoff that sacrifices firepower for mobility. One of the two LRM-15 launchers have been removed and replaced with five jump jets, giving the Trebuchet a jumping distance of one hundred and fifty meters. Additionally, the armor has been increased by half a ton and five heat sinks have been added to the design. BV (1.0) = 1,034, BV (2.0) = 1,191
  • TBT-5S - The 5S variant of the Trebuchet modifies the design from a long-range support 'Mech to a close combat machine. The LRM launchers have been completely removed from the 'Mech and are replaced with two Thunderstroke SRM-6 launchers and an additional eight heat sinks. The only weapons the 'Mech retains are its Medium Lasers. BV (1.0) = 841, BV (2.0) = 948
  • TBT-7K - The 5K Trebuchet is a radical departure from the 5N model. The entire weapons loadout has been removed from the 'Mech and replaced with a weapons mix similar to the Vindicator. The 'Mech carries a PPC and an Autocannon/5 as its primary weapons. For close range combat, the 'Mech carries an SRM-2. This weapons mix takes the Trebuchet from a fire support 'Mech to an all around workhorse design, while giving it a support weapon that does not require ammunition. BV (1.0) = 792, BV (2.0) = 996
  • TBT-7M - Upgraded with Star League technology, the 7M variant is built with an Endo Steel chassis and uses an extralight engine for its mobility. The 'Mech carries two LRM-15 launchers, three Medium Lasers and a Octagon Missile-Magnet Narc Missile Beacon. The Narc makes the missiles more accurate, but forces the 'Mech to close in order to use it. This is all enhanced with the Trebuchet's jumping distance of one hundred and fifty meters. BV (1.0) = 1,206, BV (2.0) = 1,348
  • TBT-8B - Kalidasa began production on this variant in 3071. This upgrade of the 7M uses a standard structure to make room for four MML 5s that can provide effective support at all ranges. Four arm-mounted ER Medium Lasers supplement the 8B's close-range firepower. Thirteen double heat sinks keep the 'Mech relatively cool, though some heat management is required. BV (2.0) = ???
  • TBT-9K - The 9K variant of the Trebuchet is a 'Mech with a distinctive Kurita feel to it. The 'Mech is built with an Endo Steel chassis and is powered by an extralight engine. The 9K carries two MRM-20 launchers, two Medium Pulse Lasers, a Medium Laser, and a C3 slave unit to allow it to share targeting telemetry with other units. Finally, the 9K has added mobility with a jumping distance of one hundred and fifty meters. BV (1.0) = 1,097, BV (2.0) = 1,329
