History

Formation

The VII Hastati Sentinels (also known as the Seventh Hastati) were formed after the RAF recaptured Tikonov. The Seventh was composed of units of the Eleventh, Sixteenth, and Twenty-fifth Auxiliaries.[1] After working up, the unit deployed to Azha in 3082 and destroyed Ambermarle's Highlanders.[2] They then went on to Halloran V, fighting there for nearly a year, before relocating to Irian to rebuild.[1]

In 3085 the VII Hastati was stationed on Irian in Prefecture VII of the Republic of the Sphere.[3]

On Gray Monday the Seventh Hastati were participating in a tour of their Prefecture worlds. They waited on Kalidasa for several months before moving to reinforce the Republic of the Sphere's border with the Marik-Stewart Commonwealth. The three battalions were deployed to the Stewart, Alkes, and New Home systems. They waited through 3132, 3133, and 3144, but no attack came. During their return trip to Irian, they discovered that a four way battle had broken out in the system. The Republic decided to leave Irian to the other combatants, and the Seventh moved to the systems that would become the Republic Remnant. They formed the core of that proto-state's military.[4]

In 3145 the Seventh was split into two units that garrisoned Marcus and Callison.[5]
