History

The Western Alliance Armed Forces was the military branch of the Western Alliance, as well as the successor to the various militaries of it's member states. Evolving from NATO, the WAAF was the worlds first truly Global military. After the Western Alliance was formed in 2014, it attempted to create a unified command structure for the various militaries it found itself in command of. Despite the fact that it was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom that pushed for the unification of the Western Alliance, by far and away the most powerful member at it's inception was the worlds sole remaining super power, the United States. After the creation of a single command structure, the next step for the WAAF was to standardize the equipment and weapons for all of the militaries now under it's control. The degree of success for this program is unknown, but many had their doubts to the effectiveness of this multicultural fighting force. These nay-sayers were proven wrong in 2023, when the WAAF prevented China from forcing Japan to join its own grand alliance, the Asian co-prosperity Sphere. With the strength of the WAAF proven, the Western Alliance went on to absorb the members of the Co-prosperity Sphere, and by 2086, the Alliance had gathered enough power and prestige to rename itself the Terran Alliance, beginning the colonization of the stars. The WAAF was renamed to the Alliance Global Militia and went on to play a pivotal role in the history of the inner sphere.

Tactics

The WAAF deployed the tactics common to twentieth- and twenty-first-century Terran militaries, including combined arms warfare and a heavy reliance on primitive aircraft.
