Wolves on the Border

Template:InfoBoxNovel

Wolves on the Border, by Robert N. Charrette, is a story of Wolf's Dragoons from the point-of-view of Minobu Tetsuhara, an honorable warrior of the Draconis Combine.

On 16 December 2009, the novel was made available on BattleCorps as a PDF file (text only, without the cover, maps or any other artwork).

From the back cover (1996 edition)

Bushido governs all these concepts. As a MechWarrior of the Draconis Combine, Minobu Tetsuhara was bound by Bushido—a code that demands loyal service—to the devious Warlord Grieg Samsonov.

But when Minobu came upon a strange blue and gold Archer, the field littered with its vanquished opponents, and its weapons now empty, Bushido also dictated that he not destroy an honorable but helpless warrior. And so he rescued Jaime Wolf.

Minobu was then assigned as liaison to the Wolf's Dragoons, who treated him with the respect due a fellow warrior. When the mercenaries refuse to renew their contract with Samsonov, Minobu was instructed to destroy them.

Now Bushido dictates that Minobu oppose his honorable foe, a man with whom he has served and who deserves far better than betrayal...

Summary

Minobu Tetsuhara becomes DC's liason to Wolf's Dragoons. Warlord Grieg Samsonov of Deiron, however, wants to control the Dragoons himself or at least see them permanently indebted to the Combine. Coordinator Takashi Kurita also wants to keep the Dragoons. Through maneuvering, Wolf's Dragoons are made aware of this and seek to escape the Combine and are forced to fight Tetsuhara's forces (Ryuken-ni, et al). The Dragoons win, and Tetsuhara is forced to commit seppuku at the end, greatly angering Colonel Wolf and Tetsuhara's aide, Michi Noketsuna.
