OK, here goes. Something possibly new if all options for Level1 design haven't been exhausted.
Code:

475 Thunderstroke
95 Tons

Chassis: CMCD Standard Assault
Power Plant: Pitban 285
Cruising Speed: 32.25
Maximum Speed: 53.75
Jump Jets: none
Jump Capacity: none
Armor: Durallex
Armament:
2 Kali Yama Autocannon/10s
7 Blankenburg Technologies Medium Lasers
1 Blankenburg 25 Large Laser
Manufacturer: CMCDesigns
Primary Factory: St. Ives
Communications System: Sony MSF-21
Targeting and Tracking System: Winston Sidewinder

Overview:
CMCDesigns' Executive Board for Marketing and Public Relations
noted a significant lack of innovation in the Class-1 95 ton Assault
Battlemech catagory. That no new innovations had occured in the
class was not surprising given the demands of the modern battlefield.
However, that only one, rather lackluster design, the BNC-3E Banshee,
existed in the old technology economy spiked interest in a possibly
untapped market. The board proposed that the Research and
Development Division at CMCD's Dieron mega-complex propose four
possible production designs for the St. Ives factory, whose current
production run is scheduled for completion and tooling upgrades in 14
months. The 475 Thunderstroke is the first of the four proposed
Battlemechs.

Capabilities:
Lumbering along at 20-33 miles per hour the Thunderstroke won't
be winning any foot races. But then, that's what long-range weapons
are for. The core of the Thunderstroke is a Blankenburg large laser
and a pair of Kali Yama Autocannons (If it doesn't say "Kali Yama"
it's not really an Autocannon). The trio make a fairly heat
effective and brutal combination at extreem medium to long-range. At
close-range five forward and two rear facing Blankenburg medium
lasers allow the Thunderstroke to handle in-fighters. And of course
short-range does nothing to silence the thunder of the AC10's.

None

Ooh...KJ like, KJ like!

Ignoring for the moment the fact that a Griffin or possibly even a Panther could eat this thing for lunch (but hey, that's why 'Mechs are deployed in lances ), very nice. Close to the Awesome's capabilities at long range, but with fully controlled heat scale, as well as much better close-range punch.

I like the ammo stocks too...bit more risk of an ammo hit, but you don't want those suckers to run out in the thick of it.

BTW, Imperator > Kali Yama, so there.

Why thank you, I am glad you like it. I am curious though, why you think a Griffin would smoke it? I assume manuverability and weapons range.

Yep...assuming a reasonably skilled Griffin pilot and appropriate terrain of course, in a 1-on-1 confrontation. In a slugfest, Griffin goes down to superior firepower.

Well it's still pretty slow in here so I will toss design #2 into the ring.

Code:

475 Sharpshooter
95 Tons

Chassis: CMCD Standard Assault
Power Plant: Pitban 285
Cruising Speed: 32.25
Maximum Speed: 53.75
Jump Jets: none
Jump Capacity: none
Armor: Durallex
Armament:
2 Lord's Light PPCs
2 Kali Yama Pea-Shooter Autocannon/2s
4 SperryBrowning Machine Guns
Manufacturer: CMCDesigns
Primary Factory: St. Ives
Communications System: Sony MSF-21
Targeting and Tracking System: Winston Sidewinder

Overview:
CMCDesigns' Executive Board for Marketing and Public Relations

Battlemech catagory. That no new innovations had occured in the
class was not surprising given the demands of the modern battlefield.

Development Division at CMCD's Dieron mega-complex propose four
possible production designs for the St. Ives factory, whose current
production run is scheduled for completion and tooling upgrades in 14
months. The 475 Sharpshooter is the second of the four proposed
Battlemechs.

Capabilities:
The Sharpshooter is designed for long-range fire support with a
PPC/AC2 (Lord's Light/ Kali Yama) duo in each arm. Heat efficient
and well armored the Sharpshooter can maintain its harassing role
even in prolonged engagements. 4 SperryBrowning machine guns add
token short-range defense.
Early CMCD executive reviewers have been quick to point out that
the Bombardier and Archer's missile systems make for lighter, cheaper
and more effective long-range support platforms. A fact which may
keep the Sharpshooter out of production.

Deployment:
None

Battle History:
None

Known Variants:
Three variations to the short-range back-up weapons are being
considered. One variation replaces all the machine guns with small
lasers, another with all medium lasers, and the last with a pair of
each. An SRM-4 has also been suggested.

Hmmm...looks quite a bit like my 75-ton Fairfax...I used a LL/LRM5 combo instead of PPCs. A couple interesting design choices there...2 full tons of AC/2 ammo...looooooong staying power...2 separate locations for the MG ammo instead of a single 1-ton location...a bit riskier but gives it a nice feel.

True, the Archer and Bombardier are cheaper, but this does as much average damage at range (LRM 20s average 12 dmg, remember), but both suffer from extreme ammo dependence. Nice 'Mech!
