OVERVIEW

The Capellan Confederation is currently embarking on a major initiative to place Stealth Armour on its front-line 'Mechs. Although most attempts to modify Assault 'Mechs with Stealth armour have been abysmal failures, the Emperor, designed for city fighting, has proven a major surprise.

CAPABILITIES

In order to mount the high-technology Stealth armour on the Emperor, the design team was forced to remove the paired LB-10Xs of the original, replacing them instead with a pair of Ceres Smasher ER PPCs. These weapons have a greater range by 150 metres. Unfortunately, they produce almost eight times as much heat as the cool-running LBs. The extra heat sinks needed to mount these ER PPCs also forced the design team to remove the Large Lasers found on the original design; however, the Emperor carries three times the amount of Medium Pulse Lasers the original employed, providing a dazzling and deadly display of short-range firepower.

Equipped now with a Standard engine and no longer carrying volatile Auto Cannon ammunition, and also equipped with formidable Stealth capabilities to aid the Emperor in long-range sniping, the 'Mech is now much more survivable.

Unfortunately, as it is equipped with energy-based weapons, the 'Mech cannot employ all of its weapons at once, and certainly not whilst it is in ‘Stealth’ mode. Because of the additional heat generated by the Stealth armour, the 'Mech can use only one of its Ceres PPCs whilst ‘cloaked’ and cannot employ its PPCs in tandem with the Pulse Lasers, even when the Stealth armour is disengaged. However, the 'Mech can use all of its Medium Pulse Lasers whilst the Stealth system is engaged, and the heat sinks scattered through the ‘Mech can control the heat thus generated.

DEPLOYMENT

The Emperor is still undergoing testing at a secret locale. However, the 'Mech will probably first be deployed throughout McCarron’s Armoured Cavalry, especially in their Third Regiment which deploys an unusually large number of Emperors.

MY BLURB

Munch. Pure and simple munch. Due to the space requirements of the Stealth armour, there was not much I could really do to the Emperor. The LBs, big weight and space eaters, had to go. I toyed with using 4 Large Lasers, but eventually heat problems canned that idea. Instead, I wound up with 2 ER PPCs and the insane Pulse Laser battery for short-range use. The Pulse Lasers alone should rip most 'Mechs to shreds, but at the ranges you must reach to employ them, the Stealth armour will not work. Still, since the Emperor is supposedly a city fighter, range should not be a major problem.

MASS BREAKDOWNS

1 Jump Jet, 2 Double Heat Sinks, ECM Suite- Right Torso
1 Medium Pulse Laser- Head
1 Jump Jet, 1 Medium Pulse Laser-Centre Torso

COST ANALYSIS

At 1,682 BV and 10,651,400 C-Bills, the 'Mech is surprisingly cheap. It is only slightly more expensive in terms of BVs and is almost 6 million C-Bills cheaper. Nifty.

Yea, verily. Let it be known far and wide that Nightward loathes MW: DA. Indeed, it is with the BURNING ANIMUS OF A THOUSAND SUNS that he doth rage against it with.

The idea of Stealth armor on mechs is munchy beyond belief...but since it's Level 2 legal...nice rework.

Thank you, thank you. *Takes bow*. All adulation graciously recieved ;).

Stealth Armour was, I feel, bought in to stop the Munchkins complaining that Null Sig was not Level 2. It actually makes more sense than Null Sig, too-so they should kill Null Sig for ever now IMHO.
