3 Hornets? That was the best you could do? Try 2 Thugs (with a high AI level). Those PPC and missile blasts are murder on an Elemental (literally). Not to mention that the armor is thick.
Try this, take an Atlas and place jump jets in it. Then try to land on top of a battle armor suit. No, it's not impossible, I've done it before (half fluke, half skill). For some real fun, challenge a Nova or a Kit Fox and blow off both arms. Wait for it to walk next to you and stop, then try to jump away before it explodes. :)
