Overview:
       The Beauceron, nick-named "The Watchdog," was originally designed
   and deployed by CMCDesigns (CMCD) in 3020 as a sentry and patrol 'Mech
   for its research and construction facilities.  The battlemech's load out is 
   designed for sudden, short-range combat with a wide damage dispersal pattern. 
   Its speed and agility allow it to function as a medium-response-time interceptor.
 
       Lack of a long-range weapon and total ammunition supply 
   dependency has kept interest in the Beauceron as a frontline 'Mech 
   down.  When one is spotted outside of a CMCD compound it is a sure 
   sign that the owners aren't concerned about ammo supply and that an 
   ammo dump is to be found in the area.
 
Capabilities:
       Supported by a CMCD standard medium chassis and powered by a 
   Nissan 200 engine, the Beauceron moves at 33.5mph with a cruising 
   speed 53.6mph.  The speed is complimented by 2.5 tons of Leviathan 
   Lifters which carry the Beauceron 164 yards through the air.  Its 
   armament is strictly Holly short-range missiles racks.  A SRM-4 
   graces the left arm and left hip, both fed from ammunition bins in 
   the left torso.  The right torso sports a heavier-hitting SRM-6 
   backed by and SRM-2 in the right arm.  Both racks' munitions ride in 
   the right torso and the SRM-2 bin typically holds volatile Inferno 
   warheads.  Defensively the Beauceron had seven tons of Durallex 
   Medium armor, constituting 82% of maximum coverage.
 
Deployment:
       Between 3020 and 3056 CMCD held the Beauceron exclusively for its 
   own security forces use.  However, they begin selling off the 
   Beauceron and replacing it with a variety of new and experimental 
   'Mechs after their orbital Endosteel plant went on-line in February 
   of 3056.  Since then there have been reports of the Beauceron on 
   security details along the Federated Suns / Free Worlds League 
   border, the Periphery states and even in a mercenary unit pulling 
   baby sitting duty.
 
Battle History:
       Although official statistics and battle-ROMs are classified by 
   CMCD, "alternate" sources indicated that the Beauceron has had an 
   outstanding career, carrying the day against Kallon Industries and 
   Coventry Defense Conglomerate corporate raids.  Conflicting sources, 
   however, are quick to point out that the alleged successes may be 
   nothing more than a CMCD sales pitch and are in no way an indication 
   of the 'Mechs ability in an organized military unit.  Additionally, 
   twenty-five years of sketchy battle reports seem to reveal a 
   vulnerability with the 'Mech's second SRM-4 ammunition bin in the 
   left torso, which has exploded 76.7 times more often than the other 
   three bins.
 
       The Outworld Alliance has filed a suit against CMCD demanding 
   reparations and refund for two Beauceron they used in defense of the 
   capitol city on Ramora.  While the Alliance did hold off the attack, 
   the collateral damage being caused by the SRM's shrapnel and inferno 
   missiles totaled in the billions of C-bills rendering the 'Mechs 
   useless in the city's defense.  Once the battered enemy forces were
   pushed beyond city limits and the Beaucerons' ammunition was reloaded
   it was again to play a role in mop-up opperations.  CMCD, however, 
   blames trigger happy, inexperienced pilots to their long standing
   "Watchdog's" poor preformance.
 
 Known Variants:
       CMCD has issued a field refit kit for the Beauceron.  The kit 
   removes the eleven single heat sinks and replaces them with ten 
   double heat sinks.  The seven tons of armor are replaced with 6.5 
   tons of ferro-fiber armor.  And a Beagle active probe is added to the 
   left torso.  The refit is not yet publically available but has been 
   applied to Beauceron units still currently in active service at 
   several key and high security CMCD facilities.
 
       A redesign of the Beauceron that never saw production gave the 
   mech an endosteel frame, ten double heat sinks, cellular ammunition 
   storage in both torsos, a Beagle active probe in the left torso and 
   added a rocket-launcher-10 to the right arm.
