Overview:
When asked for a clan based meduim to heavy mech, that was Under
12million c$bills to produce and could still handle a heavyier force
with speed and agility common to most Kurita mechs, and still able to
carry a full compliment of weapons without losing armor protection or
durability several designers tried but failed.
Extensive tests and
cooperation created the machine now known as the Gisaku, orginally
named the Gisuri that name was later taken for another battlemech.
Design wise the Gsk-431 is intended to look frail, the
armor configuration is standard, but each plate is rounded and
smooth; a artful design to make them look thinner then the actual
tonnage of armor would inicate. Taking hints from both the clans
Hunchback and the Firestarter battlemechs, this 75 ton machine mounts
dual LRM 5 racks in tublar hunched forward chambers that are designed
around LRM5 longshot series Swarmer submunitions heads for maxamum
dispersal per shot.
Each of the arm sections contains the secondary
weapons, from a clan ER large laser and dual ER medium lasers on the
right arm to a LB-x 'Scattergun' Autocannon carying cluster
munitions. To improve weapons accuracy a Lite Enhanced imaging system
has been calibrated to function with the LRM racks or the AC via a
slider or voice control. Some pilots have complained that the head
mounted cockpit is a coffin, giving them limited movement inside it also
that the dual small pulse lasers on the head may explode under damage,
though they serve a mostly AP role in the mecha,and there are concerns that
under heavy strain the light class gyro can become over balanced; however these are seen as acceptable drawbacks for a heavy mech that is decently fast and well armed.
Best
suited for either long range engagement with the swarmer LRMS to
soften up groups of mechs or vehicles or at a point position where
the reach of its large laser and auto cannon can be best put to use;
the mech is durable enough to be dropped into almost any combat
situation and providing the pilot is careful, survive. In terms of
heat the Gsk performs better then some designs in its weight class,
taking extensive use of compact clan heatsnks allows this mech to
wield its laser cannons and LRMs to a smooth and rapid effect on a
battlefield.
Drawback wise several pilots have mentioned the lack of
jumpjets in the design, something that could aid the agility factor
by several degrees but as of right now there is no known plans to
alter this design past its current form. Ammunition wise the machine
carries a decent load of Autocannon ammo,and Swarmers, allows the
pilot to be selective in target engagement.
Capabilities:
Long range target engagement, medum and close range urban
engagement.
Deployment:
No full combat deployments yet, though several Combine boarder
worlds along the clan reigon have begun to get these mechs in
Battalion sized orders to bolster older or worn out battlemechs.
