Overview: The Das Rum Battlemech is the example of a recent trend towards gearing assault class mechs to have a slightly better movement curve against lighter units. Built along popular frames such as the Blood Asp/Uziel style mechs, the Das Rum takes that concept to a assault scale. From the sphere like primary torso to the heavy duty reversed joint legs the mech is a toss back to both designs. Armoring the mech is almost 20 tons of Starshield plating for protection to vital areas. Based around the concept of a support mech as well, the massive war machine has a complete sensor and ECM suite, allowing it to fill both front line combat and long range target acquisition. Weapons wise its primary armament is a so called Sniper Cannon, suited for shots against targets at ranged, backed by dual linked AC2 class LBX’s it can give a decent amount of fire power at varying ranges. Up close dual medium lasers and Streak SRM4’s fit the bill, though they are considered by some to be sub par backup weapons, the mech’s primary role is of long range harrier. Specialized pods contain the medium laser and SRM rack, tucked over each shoulder housing. The cockpit is smaller then average, a bare bones system aside from the sensor systems, some pilots complain of the hot wired coffin effect but overall the assault mech performs well enough in its role for a handful to be in production or on the field as command units along the Combine boarders. Some have stated the XL engine is more hazard then benefit, but as of now the mech performs well enough as is. Testing is recently completed and a full scale production may be in the future.

Known Variants: Secondary version on drawing boards that has a slightly larger engine and trades out the AC's for a single AC5 as well as dropping the streaks in favor of more laser weaponry.

oops bloody hell.. i used clan Hsinks by accident, sorry? wasnt paying attention, was looking at the heat curve not the type it was, eh.. its just a heat sink so shouldnt be too many problems and ok the movement sint much better then the usual assault, i'll post the one with 4mp once i get it figured out fully

and the variant and yes I used a xxl engine.. but hey assault mech with 4mp a turn. slightly better weapons too and normal IS heat sinks.

Nice mech, the fluff is good. You cover the bases and that is what counts. Plus its' new so there won't be much background to actions the mech has been unless it was part of a major operation etc...
The mix of L3 stuff gives some thought into how it maybe used, going of it's main weapons, range seems to be the best thing, sniping and staying out fights, or sitting in a city and ambushing other mechs and wasting vehicles and infantry.

exactly, that was the intent heh. give it enough fluff so someone knows what it looks like, and some basics on the gear and let everything else go from there, if i had a MW group anymore to RP with id give it a test run, but, heh not anymore though I think it would do decent for sniping at units at range and medium, and fire support from protected structures while the large units moved in and its a good lot of sensor/ecm so its a capable enough unit
