------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ==Overview:== The Ostbow was the successor to the Banshee. Designed as a battlefield superiority mech, the Ostbow was a fast assault mech, designed to keep pace with heavy class machines.
==Capabilities:== The Ostbow was Ostman's only foray into the assault mech market, making use of cutting-edge technology such as an endo steel skeleton and an extra light engine to boost mobility without sacrificing armour and firepower as was the case on older mechs such as the Banshee and the Charger.
This advanced technology came at a price. Not only was the Ostbow very expensive, it was also one of the most complex machines of its day, requiring more than ten times the maintenance of designs in the same weight class. This was mostly due to the combination of its unusual rounded shape, unconventional engine construction and bulky endo steel structure. Though the maintenance schedules were grueling, the Ostbow was a sound design with very few flaws.
Mounting pairs of autocannon 10 and ER large lasers combined with 13 double strength heat sinks allowed the Ostbow to lay down a withering barrage of fire at most ranges except long range. An SRM 4 and small laser provided the short range punch. Fast and agile for a mech its size it could often dictate the ranges at which it fought, and with few designs larger and more powerful, the Ostbow was much feared opponent, much like the later Atlas.
Despite a very successful service record, the Ostbow proved too expensive to run, even for the Star League's massive resources. At the time the joke was who hated the Ostbow more, the enemy or the techs.
==Battle History:== The Ostbow was an effective design and performed extremely well in the Martial Olympiads and recieved more commendations than any other Battlemech in SLDF service.
The Ostbow performed equally well in combat. One particular machine held off a company of light mechs for several hours. At the end of the day, only a single enemy light mech was still functioning and the Ostbow had exhausted all its ammo. Some historians believe this exploit gave rise to the claim that the Atlas could take on a full battalion of light mechs.
Some 280 units were produced after 2551 and remained in service until the introduction of the Highlander in 2592. A handful remained in service with particular units or as Nobles' personal mechs, but no Ostbows were reported in service after 2700.
==Variants:== The Ostbow's unique design proved hard to alter and no known variations were produced

I put something similar together a while back, but 3025 era and not as fast, so they likely wouldn't function the same. But dual AC10's seem like a fun idea. Mine is also hopefully competion for the Atlas.

Very nice.
The fluff is well done and I like how it gives the mech it's character, do I want to buy this or a Banshee or an Atlas...

Good Design and Excellent Fluff... Your words really allow one to envision the BattleMech in its entirety, including how it would be seen (and derided) in the Mechbay... Personally, I also like how you've tailored the history of the BattleMech so it is, in present day - a lost, or los-tech design...
As for the response from the CEO of Heretic BattleMechs, in the Designs Possible Future Ressurection, would it be possible to shave off some of the Rounded Armour protection (which is great for deflecting hits rather than absorbing them - kudos) to incorporate Cellular Storage for the Autocannon Ammunition? A Great Difference between the Golden Years of the BattleMech and today's Present Armies of the Inner Sphere is how people view the Disposability of the BattleMech - although it was never deemed "Disposable" at any time, anything that allows for Ease of Repair - or at least Quick Salvage - is given higher personal marks by Armed Forces...
(And I am aware of the slight Irony of Protecting the AC ammo, which is likely to be fired off - but leaving the SRM ammo, which is likely to sit unfired for the most part - Perfectly designed BattleMechs are BORING! )

Any chance of getting the HMPro file for this one?
