------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ==Overview:== Born from the frustration of a former Hatchetman pilot, the Impact was designed to undo the flaws that have plagued machines such as the aforementioned Hatchetman and Axeman.
Solomon Tarkan lost both a Hatchetman and an Axeman to long range fire without being able to even get near enemy mechs. He set out to design a new, better mech and canvassed manufacturers for nearly a decade until his work caught the eye of Randam Mechwerks.
==Capabilities:== Lack of speed was cited as one of the main weaknesses of previous hatchet-weilding mechs. In even partially open terrain, they often become fire-magnets.
The Impact tries to fix this problem with a top speed of 86kph, enough to catch up with most heavies and many medium mechs.
An ER PPC gives it something to shoot back with at range, boosted by the accuracy of a targeting computer. At medium ranges a pair of ER Medium lasers add to the firepower. Finally a pair medium pulse lasers give the Impact some highly accurate short range firepower.
Although this energy weapons array creates much heat, a triple strength system prevents it from slowing down and give it extra "muscle" for its hatchet.
Mounting as much armour as could be spared, the Impact is very well protected and can survive enemy fire long enough to get into close combat.
==Variants:== Randam Mechwerks offers a limited edition mounting Clan weapons for extra firepower, though there is no spare part warranty for those systems.
==Notable 'Mechs & MechWarriors:== Haupt-Commandeur Solomon Tarkan
Leader of the Ghostwalkers mercenary company, Tarkan is the first pilot to recieve an Impact. His version has been upgraded with Clan weapons and targeting computer, freeing up space for a few extra heat sinks, armour and an ECM. Tarkan hopes to salvage a Capellan mech with Stealth armour to give it that edge he has incessantly been questing for.
