Something I came up with, as a compromise between a dedicated IndustrialMech and a full-scale BattleMech. Since IndustrialMech production lines were so common at the time of the HPG Fall, a few canny individuals, reading the reports of war and seeing in which direction things were going, decided to retool some of these lines to provide more war-like IndustrialMechs, which quickly gained the MilitiaMech moniker. Unlike the pitiful IndustrialMech Mods, which were thin-skinned and ungainly improvisations, the MilitiaMechs were designed for battle from the outset, and consequently were much more optimised along those lines.

Here is one of the first examples I came up with. Since the MilitaMechs are considered more valuable than their Industrial Mod cousins, they are often configured as support units rather than close-in brawlers. This specific one, the Carson, was based off a MiningMech chassis that had been heavily modified with a stronger powerplant and dedicated weapons sensors.

Another design, heavier and slower, but with more firepower. Designed to support other units, the Lancer was designed with sufficient armour to make up for its rather slow speed, the designers feeling that withdrawing under fire being a situation that would often occur. Comparable in firepower to older designs like the Catapult, the Lancer has proven to be quite an adequate support unit (for an IndustrialMech), albeit a little slow.

did you think about including actual industrial mech components? when i read the fluff about the first mining mech the first thing i though about was industrial TSM and claws... and was suprised to only see anti mech weapons. excelent ideas and designs though.

im sure you've seen my post about "mech design help" if your willing i'd love to see what you could come up with.
