I never liked "pop-gun" ACs or small LRM racks on assault 'mechs and particularily not the DW Prime. I removed both just to see what I could do and ended up putting a GR, a few DHS, another Medium Pulse Laser and an ER Small Laser. This config seems to have a little less firepower, but less ammo to blow. All in all it seems to be fun to play with.
I took it up against a compnay consisting of each light 'mech from 3025(except the Ostscout which I replaced with the Wolfhound). Skills were 4/5 except for the Jenner and the Panther at 3/4 and the Wolfhound at 2/3. The DW was a new Clan pilot at 3/4(this is now one of my favorite scenarios to play after a bad day at work). The DW only took armor damage and killed every 'mech except the Wolfhound in 2 volleys or less.
Then I used it against my favorite testing scenario, a Victor, Zues(PPC upgrade), Banshee-S and an Atlas. They were all 1/2 except the Atlas that was 0/1. The scenario was in a city. The DW was a 2/3. I ended up taking significant armor damage and the Victors AC got to my RA IS and took out a DHS. I think the main problem that I had was that I ended up playing their game and getting in close allowing them to hit me with their shorter-range weapons.
