Overview:
When the Lyran Commonwealth obtained Battlemech technology they entrusted it to
their top manufacturing firms. While most produced designs that never made it
off the drawing board, BMW Interstellar came up with the Punisher.
A contemporary of the Ymir, the Punisher was prized by its pilots for its
superior firepower. After proving itself in combat time and again, orders from
social generals began to flood BMWi. Unfourtunately a combination of limited
production capacity, labor disputes and an unwillingness of the board of
directors to lay out a huge capital expense on a new facility kept production
low. Even still the reputation of exceptional quality and durability kept
orders flowing in. Further complicating matters social generals would
continaly demand fine leather interiors, family crests and unit insignia molded
into the armor plate as well as reconfigured power supplys to accomadate Donal
PPCs which were considered superior to the native-produced A-4 Lightning.
Finaly a small custom shop was built to accomadate special orders. From then
the Punisher would wax and wane as the status symbol du jour for social
generals until the development of the Hauptman. At times the backlog would be
so long, nobelmen would place an order at the time of conception of their heir
in hopes that it might be ready by the time they could take command of a unit.
Capabilities:
The Punisher mounted the new Partical Projection Canon system backed up by a
Large Laser for medium range punch. For a close range four Medium Lasers were
chosen for their efficency. A massive and complicated cooling system manages
to deal with the massive amounts of waste heat produced by the energy weapons.
While reliable the system is a techs nightmare if damaged, luckily for techs
many Punishers rarely see combat. However when they do their armor rivals that
of the Makie, making the Punisher difficult to take down.
Battle History:
The Punisher proved itself time and again until modern designs began to
supplant it. However in the Age of War Punishers were present-if in small
numbers-at every major offensive action by the Lyrans.
