I really shouldn't mess with the Atlas, its been done a lot in the last 12 months. But I did anyway. Never liked the Atlas K. Got whalloped by its Gauss Rifle in megamek. You know something is wrong when the AI wins! Anyway, I'm planning a rematch .
Kept it lower tech and thereby field upgradable for the Atlas D. Also gave it some anti infantry.

Looks good, dude. I might have done a few things differently, but don't worry about that.
Good luck on the rematch!

I would suggest dropping the Large Pulse Laser, it is not really giving you anything mainly due to it's crappy range. An ER or normal Large Laser might be a better choice or a normal PPC in place of it.
Also you could cut the ammo for the Gauss down to 2 tons and still have plenty to fight most battles with, then you could add ART-IV to the LRM20, thus increasing the number of missiles that hit with it, which would further improve your long and medium ranged attacks.

RE CYBRN4CR Thanks, the first rematch went poorly. A 2nd round side crit set off my SSRM ammo and it went down hill from there. I came back to win a couple of other tries and then tried the mech I was originally losing with, and that went better too.
RE Karagin Yeah, there are for sure some better ways to do it, the challenge is doing something that hasn't been done. I'd have to use endosteel to get the ART-IV. I knew the ammo was a bit much. But I want to shoot the GR when the to hit is 12 and from long to short range as well, and I was a bit concerned I'd run out at the last moment when I really wanted it. On the other hand, I could also get CASE in by dropping a ton.
The large pulse is meant to suppliment the GR's punch about where the AC20 would have normally come into range, so its range is not an issue for me. However, its weight is. Certainly, a large or ER large would be a better choice for damage production.
At any rate, I do like the results of your suggestions. I get my CASE and ART-IV, an extra heat sink, a better preformer in the ER Large through the 1-9 range bracket as well as an additional long-range weapon, and a ER small CT(r).

Glad you liked the suggestions. It does make a good variant.
