The Thundershell is pretty much like most of the mechs of that time frame, it is big, its' slow and it has lots of guns. Largely a mix of things going for and a lot going against it. It has decent range, but pays for that when things get up close and personal. The minimums on the LRMs (something the Inner Sphere STILL has not address), means it has to rely on its other weapons more then most mechs. So as you can see heat will always be an issue no matter the range.
