Okay, I'll post the Hellbringer as soon as I finish my comments on each variant.

Yeah the TC helps and you can still keep two extra heatsinks which should make it easy to hop around and fire all day. And more than 80 meters, 8 jumping gives you 240meters of distance.

BTW, how did your unit end up with said Rabid Coyote and Sagittaire?

The Rabid Coyote was a trade, I put it in the WIE unit. I have to get the last trinary finished yet.

I have the Sagittaire in my assault company of my Kell Hound Battalion, BUT, I need to thin out 6 Assault Mechs that I have and replace them with heavys or medium mechs. then I will purchace the last 10 mechs with only lights and medium to have the full 40 mechs in a merc battalion.

I assume you want that battalion to be 100% painted/kitbashed miniatures, am I right? If so, I'm impressed. I only have miniatures from the 25th box set and my Battletech time primarily consists of designing and testing mechs virtually, so anyone with an army of miniatures gets respect in my book.

Do you role-play when you trade/buy miniatures? For example, if your unit has the C-bills to buy a mech, do you then go out and buy the miniature? Or when you trade miniatures, do you try to come up with a legitimate reason why your unit would be trading with the other party? I can imagine that would make the process fun and engaging!

Oh, and here's the Hellbringer.

The original Hellbringer base chassis has a 5/8/0 movement profile, 8 tons of standard armor, and 13 base DHSs, leaving 28.5 tons available for weapons and equipment. My redesign adds FF, ES, and removes the heatsinks from the base to increase the available tonnage and max out the armor for maximum compatibility of limbs between it and the Summoner. A searchlight was permanently mounted for chassis accuracy without the need for quirks. I kept the ERPPCs, ERMLs, Streak6, AP, ECM, and A-Pods of the original Prime variant, but I removed the TC, MGs, and AMS to fill the rest of the space with heatsinks.

The City variant borrows arms from the Mad Dog and switches out the triad of ERMLs of the Assault variant for MPLs at the expense of heatsinks. Thankfully, all the weapons are still useful if used in two distinct firing groups.

I like your "C" varient, but I am looking for a Customed Jump Version for my Listing.

Yes I have been gaming off and on for years.... I got 32 IS mechs and 28 Clan Mechs, a company of Vtols/ Helos but just a few hovercraft. 3 Stars of Clan battle armor including 10 protomechs and about a company of IS purifier BA (48)

been out of the gaming circle for a while just getting my "paper work back together. Presently in Va. but moving back to In. in June. Tryiing to get back incontact with the old gaming group there.

Okay, scheinlen! Here is your requested jump Hellbringer. I had to base the variant off the Assault variant to keep at least the LPLs Streak6 and 5 ML theme. Though depending on what arms you have, you can switch them to my ERPPC variants. To make room for the jets, four heatsinks and the AP were removed. If you find you like the AP, you can switch it with the jet in the CT or the ECM, whichever you prefer.

Cool, but I modified my Ryoken II to be like the Tassa Kay design...I had a hard time cutting the LRM rack back to just a 6 pack and used the laser pc and added the ER PPCs turned out cool I thank.

Okay then I can skip that one as well. Since this is a 3050 Omnis thread, I will get to the Warhawk Gargoyle and Viper and then I might post the Cougar in a separate thread, but you'll be happy to know I intend to give the Cougar jump jets by default.

Okay everyone, here's the Warhawk.

The original Warhawk base chassis has a 4/6/0 movement profile, 13.5 tons of FF, and 20 base DHSs, leaving 32.5 tons available for weapons and equipment. My redesign removes the heatsinks from the base and adds ES to increase the available tonnage and max out the armor. I made the Warhawk similar to the smaller Adder by locking an ERLL in the center torso right under the cockpit. I also spread the ES/FF evenly throughout the mech because there was no reason not to and it would allow the possibility of exchanging arms with the other assault mechs (though I made the Warhawk establish its own line of arms instead). For the Prime variant, I kept the glorious quad ERPPC and TC goodness the same and used the remaining tonnage and space to fill it with DHSs. For those that say the Warhawk loses effectiveness if it doesn't have the LRMs, I tested it and this version is at least as powerful as the original.

The City variant changes one arm for a fully-reversible UAC20 arm while keeping the TC, making it dangerous to get close. To not be taken advantage of at range, this is paired with a dual ERLL arm along with the base ERLL, and a LRM20 rack adding long range bombardment support. Okay. I think I made a variant that will work for you.

I was able to use my 2ERLL 3DHS arms and add jump jets along with a LRM10 with swarm ammo and a Streak 6. The TC is only four tons/crits and overall the mech has 20 heatsinks, allowing you to fire three ERLLs and jump all day. You have the extra two in case you aren't afraid of overheating and cooling off. A flamer fills in the last bit of space for tactical retreats or infantry attacks. I named the variant SS after "scheinlen special" since it follows a slightly different LRM pattern. The record sheet should be attached.

I also tweaked the H variant a bit by exchanging one of the Gauss arms for a 2HLL/DHS arm. I added enough heatsinks to handle the twin HLLs, and filled the last bit of space with an ERPPC. Now the focus is more on range than on backup close range heavy lasers.

Thanks, The War Hawk "SS" fits my fighting style nicely... thanks again for the help. I like a mech with mostly energy weapons with few ammo needs... Having a energy heavy force to me gives a better field time and less dependent demand for resupply. My Clan WIE unit has Mainly that and LRMs.

The one thing I dislike on a mech is a MG and ammo, it is like running across a battle field carring a pocket full of detonaters praying that you dont trip or get hit in the pocket by even a rock! All of my mechs that have to have a MG and ammo are replaced with a Sm P Laser.

And I agree with you about the MG ammo. It is more hazardous than other ammo because it hardly gets used under TW rules. However, if you use Tac Ops rapid-fire MG rules, this quickly becomes less of an issue as a single MG can use 3-18 shots in one turn dealing 1-6 damage and heat. This is hard to ignore as MGs can quickly become the highest and fastest damage dealing AI-type weapon against harder targets in the Clan inventory, despite SPLs having better ToHits and double the range. This makes the Alpha (Assault) variant of the Timber Wolf make a bit more sense as firing all the MGs in rapid-fire mode uses 18-108 shots in one turn. So at most six turns and at least one turn you have ammo exposure, which is much better and believable when compared to the video.

With this in mind, I allowed MGs to continue to be sent to the front-line forces, though not in large quantities as not many mechs have MG variants.

In other news, I'm thinking about returning the TAG laser to the front-lines. Why? Well, if any of you have ever played a video game with laser-sight enemies, you know how intimidating they are and how much aggro they pull with that damn laser of theirs, searching around for your head to pop. And IS forces aware of the power of the TAG laser and AIV combo, but unaware of what Clan forces have in store will act the same way. Though this seems like mostly a Wolf tactic, imagine how evil it would be on the Executioner? Forget Executioner, think Terminator.

Yup. It's a pretty powerful, and expected technique. Be careful not to go too overboard with it, but if your unit can get away with it when it can, it can really make a difference.

Anyway, sorry this one took a while. I had some personal things come up.

The original Gargoyle base chassis has a 5/8/0 movement profile, 11 tons of FF, and 16 base DHSs, leaving 21.5 tons available for weapons and equipment. My redesign removes the heatsinks from the base and adds ES to increase the available tonnage and armor. I spread the ES/FF evenly throughout the mech because there was no reason not to, and so that it could mount dual Executioner arms (which most variants are). I was able to recreate Breetai's Gargoyle for the Prime variant so he gets credit for that one.

For Star Colonel Conal Ward's personal variant, I kept the dual ERPPCs of the old variant thanks to a Warhawk Prime arm, but instead of having twin Streak 6s, I made his mech's left arm be a Dire Wolf Prime arm. I was able to give his mech enough heatsinks to be able to fire either arm completely while moving, and most importantly, I was able to keep his preferred electronics, though I upgraded the Light TAG to an original TAG.

Yeah you can easily switch the Streak 2s and two ERMLs for Streak4s, keeping the one ton of ammo and the 5 jumping the same. If you want 4 Jumping, you can switch the CT jet for an ERML for a grand total of 3 ERMLs, 2 Streak4s with one shared ton of ammo, and 4 jets. But as for the Prime loadout, I probably will keep it the same.

I edited the J variant to reflect these changes. BTW, before I post the Viper, what exactly are you looking for, scheinlen? Because it already has jump jets. If you are willing to use my design thoughts, I'm planning some pretty radical changes with the Viper, but I do plan to keep its jump ability.

And like I promised, here is the Viper.

The original Viper base chassis has an 8/12/8 movement profile, with 7 tons of FF, ES, and 10 base DHSs, leaving 8.5 tons available for weapons and equipment. My redesign keeps the armor the same, but downgrades the engine in order to reduce costs and have enough tonnage to mount arms shared between the Kit Fox and Nova. Some of the available tonnage went to a MASC to make up somewhat for the loss in speed and to give the mech characteristic bursts of speed. But the most significant change to the Viper's base chassis I made was to fill the side torsos with ES FF jump jets and DHSs (with the MASC in the CT) to reflect the fact that the Viper has legs for side torsos (because the arms are attached to the legs). Locking the components that way forces weapons and equipment to primarily be in the arms. The Nova and Jenner IIC also have this characteristic to them, and as a result, all these mechs cannot torso twist, but gain a distinct Low Profile bonus due to how low their torsos and heads are to the ground. The Viper is also the first to introduce very light arms for the medium class. With half of the Nova's MPLs (two more than the original Prime) and an Active Probe, the new Prime variant is now more of a pest than ever before.

I noticed I haven't posted here in a bit. Let me continue with the Nova.

The original Nova base chassis has a 5/8/5 movement profile, 10 tons of standard armor, and 14 base DHSs, leaving 16 tons available for weapons and equipment. My redesign gives the Nova much needed ES/FF to increase the available tons and to represent the fact that the Nova has legs for torsos, much like I did with the Viper or Jenner IIC. Like those mechs, the Nova also can't torso twist. However, it does have a very distinctive low profile, giving it an edge over most mechs in the medium category. For the Prime variant, I replaced the ERMLs with 8 MPLs and 4 DHSs which isn't like the Nova's namesake, but it soundly spanked the original in a fair fight, and the Clan's can't ignore that. It also is devastating in a city where it can use its jets to gain LOS and blast away with everything before jumping away.

The Assault variant of the Nova, was intentionally designed to have two distinct firing groups. One arm for perpetual long range sniping, the other (a very familiar arm indeed) for closer ranged damage spread. It is nice to note I was able to keep the Nova's namesake trait with this variant if the warrior so chooses.

Forgoing the trademark hands, the Bombardment variant of the Nova, has twin LRM20 2ERML arms for a very Catapult feel. With missiles as the primary damagers and only 6 shots per weapon, it needs to place its shots well before resorting to jumping and firing the lasers.

The Nova's City variant is a simple exchange of the ERPPCs in the Assault variant for LPLs. It may not be the best variant in a city compared to other City variants, but it can be patient with the all energy loadout and chip away at armor at range with the LPLs on top of roofs.

How much of a change would the H be if it had manly Medium heavy lasers and 2 small pulse lasers ?

It would have to be an equal combo of 6HMLs and 6MPLs with 2 1t 1c items in the arms order for that to work, but it would have 40 overheat (68 - 28 = 40) and over 100 in potential damage at close range. It could be good, but I suppose I like the simplicity of the quad HLL loadout with enough heatsinks to fire one set of two at any one time. There is another option. I could do a loadout like the HAG variant with 5 HMLs in one arm and a Gauss rifle with 2 tons of ammo and 1 DHS in the other. It deals roughly the same damage with only 8 overheat while running, and is much more desirable, but maybe not Nova like. Then again, if that was my focus, then I would have loaded up on lasers on the other variants and not even bother with heatsinks.

So here is the second idea for the H variant.

I have run a pair of Novas in tournaments before using the alpha strike to just aim for head shots. Overheat yes, enemy survival “0”. What config can you give me in med. Hvy. Lasers that hits hard, yet, will not over heat as bad as the regular prime? What I liked about the 2 Novas was the speed and the awesome alpha strike I could do at a cockpit… now that I miss placed one of my Novas I need to look at my mechs for a pair to run that I can still do the same thing.

Take the one I reconfigured above. It has more weapons than the 4HLL version, giving you more chances of hitting the head. It has a headcapper at range, so you are not limited to the range and targeting issues of the HMLs, and it runs relatively cool compared to the alternative H options. That's about the best I can do with 20 tons that can only be placed in the arms. Otherwise, take the 6HML 6MPL option if you're not shy of shutting down.
