Posting this here to save it while I work on Yong Dynasty battle armor (going from ultra high-tech to very low tech--fun!)

The Rephiam Republic has had an interesting relationship with Battle Armor. During the early years of the Republic, resources were exceptionally limited and major military threats were virtually non-existent. In this environment it made a great deal of sense to transition Rephiam military forces from a Mech-heavy SLDF Battlemech division to a SLDF Mechanized Infantry Division. The remnants of the 62nd Royal Battlemech Division had 2 Nighthawk PA(L)s, and these systems became the foundation of several new designs that would enhance the lethality of the infantry forces that made up the majority of the Rephiam Republic's military. Over the course of more than 200 years the Rephiam Republic would continuously upgrade the standard PA(L) issued to the majority of combat infantryman. PA(L) and civilian-equivalent exoskeletons would become very common in the Republic. By 2950, nearly one in four citizens owned their own PA(L) or exoskeleton.

While the PA(L) greatly increased the survivability and lethality of the infantry, and despite the fact that combat vehicles and Battlemechs were becoming more common place, the Rephaim Republic military leadership decided to commission a new type of military technology--the full battle armor. The Republic Defense Forces utilized only one battle armor style that served as heavy weapon support for lighter PA(L) forces throughout its history, but new systems supplanted older systems roughly every 20 years. By 3025 the Rephaim Republic's capabilities to produce high-tech battle armor and the level of technological innovation had already greatly exceeded the levels the Clans would reach in the 3070s. By 3040 the Rephiam Republic had invented systems analogous to every battle armor system outlined in the TechManual and Tactical Operations, and, for the most part, Rephiam systems averaged 20% lighter than comperable Clan or Inner Sphere systems.

Over time, the Rephaim Republic's BA technologies would continue to advance and, in 3046, the Rephaim Republic introduced the X-14N Medium/Heavy Battle Armor to provide direct fire support to line infantry units, to increase anti-mech capabilities, and enable infantry forces to be inserted in to combat by atmospheric drop more easily.

The X-14N was especially interesting because it consisted of two components that allowed the X-14N to operate as a VTOL Heavy Battle Armor/aerial combatant and as a Medium Battle Armor when engaging in ground combat.

The two pieces of the battle armor consist of a 680kg Battle Armor connected to a 520kg VTOL/Partial Wing Detachable Mobility Pack.

Battle armor: 6 Armor, Mechanical Jump Boosters, 3 MP (4 with bounding)/1 jump MP, Anti-Mech Gauss MG (2 damage, 1-2/3-4/5) with 30 burst magazine and Anti-Personnel Gauss SMG with Armored Gloves and a retractable "vibroclaw".

Detachable Mobility Pack: Adds 1 Armor point (for 7 total) and enables constant VTOL flight with 7 MPs but 1 MP ground movement...attacks while flying suffer normal to-hit penalties, but due to the ungangly nature of the system attacks while ground based with , armed with single-shot SRM-4, and 100 burst belt for primary weapon.
