Large Laser version of the Panther is what you have here and 5 tons lighter.

6 pack instead of 4 pack. This one is faster with no jets.
You are going to run into things that are similiar to other mechs at times, since alot of combinations have been used.
Wiether it looks like a panther or not, it is still a different mech.

Depends on how you look at mech design, if it's been done before folks recall the other mechs and will keep comparing it against your design until said design either out preforms the old one or the old one beats your design.

that is true. You will always have comparisons. There is enough difference that this is it's own mech. I did not hear alot about the vindicator being an overgrown panther with an lrm pack instead of the srm packs. It was there, but not a big outcry. I didn't hear anything of the reverse, such as the panther being a poor lighter copy of the vindicator.
The mech will stand or fall, but really don't see that much that people can compare it to the Panther.

The Panther is a heavy-end DC light and the Vindicator is a light-end Capellan medium. They are pretty similar, but availability concerns may cause multiple mechs of the same niche to be created, making them look similar.
