Today, in the San Jose Mercury News' Science & Technology section, there was a huge article about some kind of new computerized equipment suite for ground troops. It is expected to be in production and in use by the coming spring.
Here is something that REALLY irked me:: They might use Windows CE on those things.
Why can't they use FreeBSD for something that important? It's the most stable OS in existence!
In addition, how will the suite be capable of functioning should the soldier ever get shot or hit by fragments? Considering that there are devices all over the body, I'm kinda wondering how they expect the system to work if the poor soldier even so much as drops to the ground too hard.
Lousy good-for-nothing mortals. Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em.
