Manufacturer: Unknown
Primary Factory: Unknown
Communications System: Unknown
Targeting and Tracking System: Unknown

Overview:
The AS-9A Atlas is in some ways a return to form and makes major improvements
to the original AS-7D model.

Capabilities:
Built around the less bulky and weight saving Endo-Composite skeleton, the
AS-7A features the same 300 VLAR engine as the original, but protected by extra
armour and linked to a heavy-duty gyro. 26 tons of Ballistic Reinforced armour
protect the mech from explosive weapons and impacts, while still giving good
protection against energy weapons.

The Autocannon was replaced by a Heavy PPC equipped with a capacitator, giving
it the same damage potential at nearly twice the range. An Artemis IV-enhanced
Clan-spec LRM20 and SRM6-Streak replace the original launchers, while a pair of
Medium X-Pulse lasers provide extra short range firepower. All ammo is
protected by CASE II. A Guardian ECM suite negates enemy electronic systems
and targeting.

The armoured cockpit now has a full head ejection system.

These modifications have made the Atlas a tougher and more durable brawler and
a good command mech for those who cannot afford the more expensive Atlas III.

Battle History:
The AS-9A is a newcomer to the battlefields of the Inner Sphere, but early
reports indicate the mech is at least as solid and reliable as its Star
League-era forebearer. A duel with a Grand Titan ended in the latter's defeat
and another Atlas stood its ground against a Mad Cat II, forcing it to retire
with heavy damage.

Deployment:
The AS9-A Atlas is being produced on Hesperus II, it's still unclear if the
AS7-D production was shut down in favour of the new design or that a new line
was opened to supplement the others. The majority of AS9-A are being sent to
Lyran units usually replacing pre-Jihad machines. Others are being offered on
the open market with Mercenaries and the Capellan Confederation as main
customers.

Notable 'Mechs & MechWarriors:
Mech sergeant Natalya Pankow : A pilot in the Heavy Metal Assault Company of
the Ironsides Mercenary Brigade. Heavy Metal is an independent company
commanded by Magnus Carlsson and is distinctive because it is almost
exclusively equipped with Atlas mechs. Pankow served in the second lance. The
Ironsides were hired by the Lyran Commonwealth to deal with a Clan Jade Falcon
offensive in 3145. During this campaign the Ironsides were decimated by the
fearsome Falcons. Heavy Metal sacrificed itself to buy the remains of the unit
enough time to evacuate. Pankow's mech was reported destroyed and her pilot is
currently MIA, presumed captured by the Jade Falcons.

Colonel Hakim Khaber : An officer in Davion Assault Guards, he is the oldest
serving officer in the AFFS and possibly the Inner Sphere, at the age of 117 he
is a veteran of the Clan Invasion, the Civil War and the Jihad. His
lead-from-the-front command style means that he has had over a dozen mechs shot
from under him, including a Battlemaster, Warhammer, Templar, Sagittaire and a
Clan Vulture and acquired the AS9-A Atlas, believing it might not be so easily
destroyed as his previous mechs.

There is nothing about this Ballistic Reinforced armor here on the Wiki that I can find. Is this a house rule armor you made up?

I would like to know the stats of this new type of armor plating. By the name I take it its good at stopping kinetic energy attacks what I would like to know is its weakness are that evens it out.
Why argue if the glass is half full or half empty, when you know someone is going to knock it over and spill it anyways.

It is not a house rule. For 12 points a half ton it halves ballistic and missile damage.

Normal armor is 8 points a half ton.

I meant 12 points a ton. Or 6 a half.

So the only draw back is you get 3/4 the points per ton of standard armor but you get all ballistic and missile damage cut in half. I can see why the armor was removed from the game its way over powering.

Brand new in the Field Manual 3145, it's Hardened Armour "light", and it takes up ten spaces. It's pretty good, some drawbacks like extra weight and space.

Overpowering vs an Archer or Annihilator. Against an Awesome it's just extrs tonnage you can't use for offense.
Peace is that glorious moment in history when everyone stands around reloading.

The armor was never removed. It was recently added to the game.

And it only reduces damage to a minimum of 1 so cluster rounds are still effective. And it does nothing to energy weapons, which are arguably the best weapons In the game.

From the equipment list, it appears there is a second heavy ppc+capacitor is only 1 critical and 1 ton.

And its another mixed tech unit with armor that seems to be magical.
Yeah, its not, but I hate these new armors that make it so you can not be hurt by weapons fire. I guess it will soon be they will start having an auto repair system on mechs that repair damage in the middle of combat.

The armor is neither mystical nor game breaking. Neither does it make you immune to missile or ballistics fire. Actually, LBX auto cannons are just as effective against the armor due to a stupid min damage of 1 technicality.

Auto repair system?

Harjel II and III.

You can technically shoot yourself to heal yourself.

I refuse to acknowledge it's existence.

I swear the game developers love the lbx cannon. It seems to be able to do what the normal and ultra can not do. Inflict damage.

I think it was put in just to make crits against anything it hit.

and now you know how I feel about alot of this new armor crap as well as a few other systems out now.

The new armor makes some sense.

Shooting yourself with a LMG to heal yourself does not.

Way back, when I was younger...I liked the clans cause they were awesome. Now I see a bit how OP there weapons where, but they where just a bit more powerful then IS contemporary types. But after awhile I would just stick with IS, cause even with Tech 2 it was more difficult to make a more unique mech that was "awesome in its own way".

The later stuff....Dark Age, Jihad, ect ect crap...they don't exist and are dead to me. Might as well just make the things have regenerating shields like in Halo (go to Heavy woods, avoid getting hits for 2 turns, full health!), fire Photon Disruptors Beam Weapons and the only ammo are "grenades" that create a 3 Hex Bubble to hide in that counters all weapon fire for 6 turns while you fire with impunity using a Mark XXXX Gauss 1-Shot class sniper rifle with -3 minimum (closer it is, subtract 6 to dice for each hex so weapon doubles as PDW) that has a billion rounds a ton with 60 hex range (also, to counter anything that hides in heavy woods you can use it artillery/indirect fire with no cover rule and against +6 height hills you can only use indirect so long as the target is not within 3 hexes aka Mortar type firing) and you get to use a special dice that only has even numbers on all six sides with the rule that if its 2 or higher, you can one shot everything. Sounds like fun, where are my royalties the world owes me for creating silly weapons. Welcome to Call of Honor: HALO-Strike, twitch kiddies this is a board game just for you and your 3 second attention spans for getting the longest kill streak before you die.

Meh, probably why I don't bother with most shooters and the newer generation of BT games. Boring as hell to me, nothing that requires strategy or tactics any more...just respawn and defeat a choke point to win the enemy capture point.
