Designed by Ristock Free Worlds Industries as a electronic warfare capable 'mech, the Blood Owl in response to advances in technology following the first years of the clan invasion. It has high speed and maneuverability and can jump an impressive 180 meters. Armed with 2 Marktec 400 large lasers as its primary weaponry, the Blood Owl can keep larger 'mechs at bay and seriously injure lighter 'mechs. It also comes standard with a Streamzyne SRM-4 compatible with the JKZ Narc missile beacon for an added close range punch and a Sunflare 8 small laser for added support. The speed of the Ghost Owl allowed it to avoid incoming fire and the beagle active probe would reveal hidden units nearby. It would then tag the greatest threat with a narc missile beacon and keep moving giving itself covering fire.
Often in battle, the Blood Owl would be accompanied by Ristock's Blood Raven, tagging enemy 'mechs, ferreting out hidden threats and allowing the Blood Raven to unleash its long range weaponry. To dissipate the heat generated while shooting, it carries 11 double heat sinks and heat only truly becomes an issue when jumping and firing.
Variations tried to use a guardian ecm suit to improve the Ghost Owl's survivability, but it was found that it would hinder its own narc missile beacons and this idea was quickly dropped. A TAG has also been used on the Ghost Owl with some effectiveness.
