Overview
The Hephaestus-class Assault Gunboat was intended to act as a 'super-heavy aerospace fighter', with speed to match its smaller cousins, while carrying more firepower and armor than those could.
Capabilities
A 58.5 ton fusion engine provided the Hephaestus with speeds on par with much smaller aero fighters, and twenty-five double heat sinks kept it cool. Twenty-five tons of standard armor made the ship incredibly durable, and armament was heavy as well--Five standard PPC's, two in each wing and one in the nose--and one Medium Laser mounted in the nose. Unfortunately, a five-ton fuel tank meant it had to stay relatively close to a dropship or Jumpship to refuel.
