Adam Eselon, my father, was born on Helm in the year 3012 to a dirt farm family. The Eselon clan had lived on Helm from when the first colony ships arrived to settle Helm. The clan had at times held some power but only on the local level in the outer areas. Almost all of the Eselon clan had moved into Freeport during the mid to later part of the Star League era.
When Minoru Kurita bombed the planet almost to a man the clan was wiped out. Only Ronald Eselon survived to continue the clan name. The only reason he had survived was he was rock-climbing Nagayan Mountain during the attack. The Eselon clan members that where not in Freeport at the time of the attack where never heard from again by Ronald Eselon or his descendents. What might have became of them is unknown.
From a very early age Adam Eselon showed great promise as a tinker and designer of improvements on old farming equipment. At the age of twelve he was hiring his self out to other farmers to fix their equipment.
The best thing that could have happened to Adam Eselon was when he was 15. The Gray Death Legion was granted Helm as their landhold. As soon as Adam found out about the mercenary Battalion he went to hire on as an astech. When Alard King found out about this local astech and personally checked his skills he was surprised this kid had no formal technical training but seemed to know his way around just about anything from a standard ground car to a battlemech up to jumpships he was a technical prodigy. Not only had he proved that he was a technical prodigy but he also was a natural leader. Within months he was an astech crew lead on the units jumpship Individious. No mater what department he was put in his crew would get more work done in a faster time than any other astech team.
When The Gray Death Legion troops returned to the Individious after the attack on Helm Adam learned of the Helm Memory Core and looked at its contents. He understood at an instant its value. Using his position as an astech on the Individious and unknown to anyone he copied the Helm Memory Core and hid the copy in the jumpships main memory core. In his spare time he learned anything he could from it. When the Gray Death Legion returned to the Lyran Commonwealth he left the Gray Death Legion. He made his way to the Federated Suns selling snidbits of information from the memory core to different companies that could use the information. He did that to supply him self with traveling money. Upon reaching the Federated Suns core worlds he started to find companies that would pay a small fortune for some of the information that was contained on the Helm Memory Core.
It did not take long for Adam to find that mere money would satisfy what he wanted in life. He started to use the information on the memory core to gain him influence in the Federated Suns court and in the New Avalon Institute of Science. That ended up doing him quite well because it did not take all that long for the source of money from the memory core to drop to a trickle. One thing that he always did when he gained influence over events was to try to keep behind the scans of what was going on.
At the age of twenty-one my father married the youngest daughter of a minor lord. She was quite spoiled but neglected from her father. She wanted someone that would pay attention to her but she also wanted power. Adam found that her drive attracted him to her unlike a lot of men in court, he wanted a woman to work with, and he did not want a wallflower wife.
Adam started to learn of what was beyond the Federated Suns boarders in The Periphery using his connections in the New Avalon Institute of Science. He was looking for a world of his own to rule. When his father in law found out about this he had an argument with Adam and at the end he said that Adam should stop being as stubborn as an **** and give up on his asinine ideas. That quote ended up staying in Adams head for years.
Adam ended up finding just the world that he was looking for. It was an earth like planet that was ruled by a tyrant Bandit King where it was reported that almost the entire population was in enslavement to the ruling class. One of the major exports was gladiator fighters that where forced to fight to the death for the entertainment of the people that could afford to pay the price to buy gladiator fighters.
Adam hired from the new hiring hall on Outreach two different mercenary companies to help him to invade the planet. The first one was a unconventional infantry company that had come very highly recommended for their skill in training gorilla fighters and there loyalty to there employer. The second was a battlemech company that was highly questionable in there dealings on the battlefield and somewhat questionable to their employer. Do to the legal restraints of the law in the Federated Suns he could not hire a better unit do to the highly questionable actions that he was planning. If he hired a better unit there would be a record of them being hired and that was one thing that he wanted to avoid. The infantry unit could be explained away as a security force for a Lady and her commoner husband. It was a far greater sized security force than was needed for such a job but still quite legal under the law.
Adam sent the first unit to the planet that he wanted to free from the tyrant that ruled that world. Their messenger returned with a report that showed that not only where the reports that where sent to the Federated Suns correct but understated the conditions that the people lived in. They also reported that an open revolt would just get a large number of the citizens killed under the iron boot of the tyrant. They had already started to recruit and train the citizens for when an open revolt could succeed.
A little over a year after the first unit arrived on planet Adams arrived with the second unit. The second unit was more a diversion to distract the defending battlemechs so the popular revolt could start with out ending up as a slaughter and bloodbath.
The battle did not go as planed. Adam expected that some of the defending units would either stand down or would switch sides. Despite the offer of immunity from reprisals most of the defending troops refused to believe it and kept fighting to the bitter end.
Of Adam’s attacking battlemechs, some were completely destroyed, most survived but where so badly damaged they might as well have been destroyed and where almost completely useless to continue the battle. The commander of the mercenary battlemech company ended up being killed and Adams replaced him with a Sergeant that was more capable leader for the mech company than the Lieutenant that was second in command. Fortunately the defenders battlemechs where even worse off and they could not continue the fight. The battle ended up being decided by units of infantry.
The mercenary battlemech unit that Adams hired ended up needing to take a long time to repair their mechs after the battle was over. Adams was in the perfect possession to hire the unit for a greatly reduced rate of pay for defense and for training for anti mech tactics for infantry. In the new contract he removed the salvage rights for greatly improved support rights. That ended up being a boon for Adam in the long run. The battlemech mercenary unit ended up needing years to repair the mechs that they had going into the invasion and earned under their old contract’s salvage rights.
The first edict that Adams made was that slavery was outlawed system wide and that all slaves where to be freed. That did not go well with a lot of the minor powers that controlled the areas outside the capital of which was not under Adams direct control. Most of the minor powers on the planet fell quite readily when Adam had the time and units to send out. Since none of the outer powers possessed any military equipment more than glorified APCs. Most of the families of the minor powers that resisted Adams where tried and convicted of crimes against humanity. Some of the convicted men where hanged most where sentenced to banishment from the solar system.
A good number of far out reaching estates had submitted to Adams new government and complied with his orders. All of the landowners where placed under house arrest until they could be investigated for crimes against the people they ruled over. Some of them where convicted and banished others where set free to run their estates but with out the use of slave labor. A small number of them where invited into the capital to run the estates of the banished families do to their ability to run their estates well and had treated their slaves humanely and justly. It was not all that hard for Adams to identify the people that he wanted to give the large estates to and seats on the new governments House Of Lords. They where the ones where there own slaves willingly took up arms to resist Adam to take their master into custody to be tried for crimes and their exmaster had to force them to stand down so no one would be hurt.
Adams confiscated all currency of the old raceme and destroyed it. He printed his own currency that was to be the only legal tender system wide. The use of any other currency was deemed a crime against the legal government. To the freed slaves that meant nothing since they where property and by law could not own anything including money. As for the estate owners there was little that they could do about it. Early on there was some grumbling about it but as soon as the new currency was well in circulation that died down. The currency of the great houses and C-Bills had to be exchanged for the local currency at the central bank. Since there is no possessing fee, the exchange rate was quite fair, and there was a central bank branch that was well staffed in the spaceport few travelers didn’t have really much to complain about. Anyone that was caught with other realm currency on them out side of the spaceport had the money confiscated and was deported at once. Since citizens had no desire to be deported they refused to deal in out side currencies so the few people that did try found little to no buyers. One of the crimes that was called for death was counterfeiting the currency of the realm. Even the possession of counterfeited currency could be dealt with severe punishment up to being put to death by spacing.
Cleaning up the streets of rubble went reasonably quickly and the building of new apartment buildings was started. Soon after there where plenty of apartments to go around for the freed slaves to live in buildings for factories and warehouses where started.
The rate of pay that Adom had set to start was not generous in any stretch of the imagination but it was enough for people to feed, cloth, and pay for a place for them self’s to live. Adam justified this because first though he had great resources they where not infinite also the last thing that he wanted was super inflation to damage what he was trying to do. A large amount of his resources was used to bring in equipment to build the factories, to tool them for production and to have versus pieces of equipment for the estate owners to improve their production with out the use of slave labor. Early on he had little left to be giving out to the general population as wages. As time passes and more locally produced consumable goods came on the market for laborers to spend their money on he slowly razed the wages. Men and women where employed fully equally. One of the things that Adam regretted was how slow he could improve the availability of more advanced medical care. Some people that died of diseases could have been saved if there was just advanced medical care available. He just did not have the recourses to build a top of the line medical facility in the early stages of the rebuilding of the planet.
During the first year after the invasion most of Adam’s time was devoted to cleaning up the mess that was left over from the battle to take the planet and what the last ruler did. During that time one of the neighboring bandit kings tried to raid the planet. The raid went very bad for the raiders. The first reason was that Adams had ordered the mercenary infantry company that he continued to employ to spy on any bandit king that could pose as a threat. He was well informed that they where coming and what there goals where. The second reason was from day one he started to train the locals to be able to defend them self’s from attacks. When the raid was defeated not only was the entire raiders mech lance captured but also their Leopard class dropship was captured with out any real damage to it. All of the raiding troops where given a choice of either being sent back to their master to explain to him not only why his battlemechs where captured, but how they permitted their drop ship to be captured also. The other choice was they could choose to wait for a ship that was heading to the Enter Sphere. To a man they chose to be sent to the Enter Sphere.
The dropship and battlemechs that where captured where fixed up and sent to the Enter Sphere to be sold to purchase equipment and supplies that could not be manufactured locally. Also what were brought back were highly educated men and women to help in the rebuilding of the planet and to educate the population. The old raceme saw that uneducated slaves where easier to keep under control so education of the general population was basically non existing. That was one of the things that caused Adams the most problem during the reconstruction was that almost everyone could not read or write.
Adams had no intention of just sitting back and enjoying his gains. He set to work on the second part of his plans. He started a program to build a vast war materials manufacturing company. Remembering his father-in-law’s statement of what he had thought on Adams plans he named the company “Assinine Industries”. His wife was quite amused when Adams had told her of his idea of a name for the company and where it had came from.
Within the first five years of the new governments rule some military equipment was being shipped into the Enter Sphere. At the end of that time was my birth.
The expansion of the factories where growing exponentially. Almost every year there was some new factory that was going up. The planets population could not keep up with the demand for more workers. To keep his world from the eyes of the Enter Sphere he ended up having to raid other bandit king’s population centers. He would send in recruiters and when they where ready a dropship would land, load up the people, and launch before the local bandit king could do much to stop them. It did not take that long for him to deplete that avenue of a source of new workers. So reluctantly he sent in recruiters into the Enter Sphere to relive his overwhelming demand for more workers. With the demand for labor that he was having he was forced to pay higher wages, which would attract larger numbers of lower class people around the Enter Sphere that would be willing to volunteer to relocate into the Periphery. His problem was that the quantity of people that he needed could not disappear with out people in the Enter Sphere governments from noticing.
It was long in coming but Adam knew that some day the Federated Suns would react and do something. Adam did what he could to delay it but in 3060 the response happened. The raid from Federated Suns when it came was not a surprise in the least. He was feeding their spies what he wanted them to know and he was getting very good information from his own spies that where within the Federated Suns political and military sectors. As with the raiding bandit kings, the raid did not go well for the Federated Suns forces. The Federated Suns forces where repelled easily. In the following year a full-blown invasion was sent to crush the planets defenders and to annex the planet from its rulers so it could be put into the Federated Suns direct control. Thou this attack went better for the Federated Suns than the raid did it also failed badly.
One of the reasons was that when the Federated Suns warship came into orbit it was attacked with a nuclear missile that was launched from the surface. The missile was not meant to hit the warship it was just a warning that it was under the threat of being destroyed. The missile detonated a kilometer away and the only damage that was done was from the electro magnetic pulse that nuclear weapons generate. Since warships are mostly protected from EMP only minor systems where affected. The warship was moved out of orbit as to give it plenty of time to respond if another nuclear missile was launched at it. Since the invasion was to be controlled from the warship the invasion was hurt badly do to its being kept at a great distance from the planet and could not watch events directly as they happened.
What really hurt the invasion the most was that Adam knew the battle plan from his connections he had developed within the Federated Suns military. With him knowing what to expect he was able to set up his defense to counter the invasion. With the higher command forced away from orbit they where not in such a good possession to change battle orders as affectedly as they could have from orbit. With the battle plans known by Adam the battle went quite well for the defenders. Though the warriors of the Federated Suns put up a good fight in the end they lost the battle. Most of there battle mechs where either severely damaged or captured. Their tank regiments fared far worse.
The ground battle was over in just over a couple of months and all of the Federated Suns ground troops had surrendered. The only forces that where left to keep the fight going was the Federated Suns navy and with the threat of nuclear missiles they did not want to go into orbit. They could only create a blockade of the jump points. That proved useless because jumpships where using pirate jump points for the planets supplies and exported goods. A few months after the blockade started the General for the Federated Suns sued for peace all that he saw was a great use of resources for no gain of any kind. Adam was willing to return all of the attacking forces troops and equipment for political considerations. When all was said and done Adam and the planet came out of it smelling like a rose. Not only did they earn official recognition as an independent world from the Federated Suns but also with all of the footage of the battles a lot of the equipment sold by Assinine Industries gained more markets to be sold in.
Soon after the battle with the Federated Suns was over I was sent to Outreach to learn to become a Mech pilot and to learn command skills so one day I could take command of the elite battle mech force that my father was planning on creating. Wail I was there I met some people that later became my enter circle of friends and some times advisers.
My head mech technician is a natural technician genus as my father was. He arrived on Outreach penniless and got a job as a hired hand at one of the minor repair bays that is available to mercenary troops that are on Outreach. With the little money that he made he would buy what people thought of as junk and he would take it apart and repair what he could. It did not take long at all before he opened up small refurbished parts shop of his own. He just kept buying peoples junk and would repair what he could and turn around and sell it as working parts. What he could not repair or use him self he would sell as scrap. After only a year he had enough funs to enter the tech school on Outreach where he was one of the top students. Early in his term in the school he had bought an almost completely destroyed battlemech by the time he graduated he had restored it to excellent condition and ended up selling it to the Dragoon’s. Not only is he a top-notch technician but he is great at engineering things also. He had built an armed heavy cargo VTOL for his self. I had met him during my class in basic battle mech care and repair; he was my instructor for the class. He was teaching the class for one of his own classes. We hit it off right off the bat. I think that I learned more from him in battlemech repair helping him with his battlemech that he was rebuilding than in all of my classes that he or others taught.
My personal bodyguard was born from one of the Dragoon’s families of armored infantry. He was not happy with the roll that he was fated to do upon his graduation from the armored infantry academy. He did not want to fight other people’s battles for them. He wanted to have a home that he could call his own. Since he saw another path to take he jumped on it. Not only did I find a great friend in him but also I have a bodyguard that owns his own suit of Clan standard battle armor.
Our first meeting did not go that entirely well. We where in a simulated battle and the mission was for him to take on a battle mech and mine was to defend my self from an attack from an armored infantry trooper. I did not take it all that serous because of the size difference of our equipment. On the open radio I taunted him about his inadequacies. I learned quite quickly that I should not have done that. He took it quite personally and ended up taking me out in record time. At our joint debriefing he did not want to let it go and had every intention to continue the fight right there in the debriefing room. What saved me from an extended term in the hospital was that his instructor was quite aware of his intentions. What his instructor did that saved me was that he was ordered to instruct me in how to defend ones mech from an armored infantry swarm attack. Any order that he was given he took quite serous. Since I was under his instruction that meant that he could not beat me to a pulp. That did not mean that he did not take great pleasure in his personal instruction of me, to my great displeasure. It did not take me long to really respect what them tiny suits of battle armor could really do. In the end he had forgiven me my transgressions against him, of course all of my very painful lessons at his hands helped, and our friendship started to develop. That friendship was helped along early in my anti battle armor lessons during a bar fight one night. I had asked why he pulled me out of the brawl since I was doing quite badly. He told me if he could not beat me to a pulp no one else was gong to be allowed to do so either.
A great stir was created when I arrived home, the first thing that was seen was him disembarking our dropship in his suit of Clan battle armor acting as if the dignitaries and assembled people that had shown up to meet me where enemy troops. All of his lasers where set so low as to be totally harmless and the missiles where glorified fireworks. He did create quite a laser and fireworks show. Later my father confessed in privet that once his hart started to beat again that he was amused by the act. But in pubic he had no choice but to condemn the act do to the small panic that it created, and maybe some shorts that had to be changed from some of the dignitaries.
My entire command of battle mech pilots are hand picked from friends of mine that I had developed during my time in Outreach’s mech pilot academy. Not a one of them was disappointed of the mech they where assigned when they arrived on my home planet. Every one was a custom built mech with advanced equipment and weapons.

The solar system’s government when Adam Eselon took over was a dictatorship but as time passed he released power onto a Parliament and the government has become a type of Constitutional Monarchy.
Adam Eselon holds the passion of Prime Minister and he holds it for life or until he steps down to whom he decides to release the passion to. At this time his wife would take the passion. He answers to the House of Lords and to the House of Representatives. The only time that he has a vote in the combined Parliament is when there is a tie to be broken. Though he holds power as the Prime Minister he and his wife holds a greater of unofficial power as the sole owners of Assinine Industries, of which is the only cooperation of any real great size within the solar system. Thou me and all of my siblings will hold equal shares in Assinine Industries upon our parents death we wont have equal say in the operation of the company. I will be inheriting the tidal of Prime Minister and will have almost nothing to do with the running of the company out side of being just a shareholder and having the rights to vote as such.
In the House of Lords there are always 100 members and they must be large estate holders, they’re in for life or until they decide to step down. Each of the House of Lords members are granted three votes each in a combined session of a vote of the combined Parliament.
House of Representatives are voted in and they hold the job for three years and can only stay for two consecutive terms in office and then must step down. There are 500 members of the House of Representatives. During a combined Parliament each House of Representatives member has one vote.
The only place in the solar system that has any great numbers of people as permanent resident is the sixth planet. Out side of that there is some mining operations but few people call it home.
For the official Army, the planetary defenses are comprised of light to low-end medium conventional vehicles of which are all built by Assinine Industries. The standing army consists of one regiment of conventional armor, three regiments of VTOLs, and one regiment of unarmored infantry. The army also maintains three wings of conventional fighters. There are twelve additional regiments of reserves or part time solders of mixed forces. Most cities also maintain some forces but for the most part they are unarmored infantry with some medium conventional vehicles.
The official Navy consists of three Leopard CVs with their attached 100-ton heavy fighters. The fighters and the Leopard CVs have been heavily upgraded with advanced weapons and equipment. They almost never resist the landing of ground forces but they do what ever they can to prevent the dropships from taking off again so the army can capture the dropships. Where the Leopard CVs are based is unknown even to the generals of the Army. They just show up to prevent dropships from taking off. The only other forces that comprise the navy are two small lightly armed space stations one at each of the two jump points. If threatened the troops have standing orders to abandon the space station in a long-range shuttle. At the time of need Assinine Industries owns two merchant jumpships and a good-sized fleet of heavily armed and armored Mule dropships that have been upgraded with advanced weapons and equipment. There is a rumor that Assinine Industries also owns a Q Mule dropship that is armed with anti warship weapons, but that has not been able to be confirmed.
Assinine Industries maintains its own military force as a security force that is separate from the planetary defense force. That force consists of one reinforced company of battlemechs that is based at corporate headquarters. The rest of the security force is a battalion of VTALs, a regiment of medium conventional vehicles, and three regiments of unarmored infantry. The Assinine Industries security force is spread all over the planet at all of the versus industrial complexes. As of my return I was given command of these forces until the day that I will take the office of Prime Minister.

I could not find much in the way of help editing so I am quite sure there are a great number of speeling and grammar errors.
Why argue if the glass is half full or half empty, when you know someone is going to knock it over and spill it anyways.

Didn't know you were looking for any one to say much about this. Coming from my over talking ****, that is kind of a shock, I know.
It actually is an interesting way of doing things. The idea of having the memory core, but not being the first to use it does make it a little more believable. Even just upgrading existing facilities is difficult when you are the resources.
Are you going to get into it like some of the other things in the battle tech universe like what components are made for outside sales, other then complete units?
Or maybe list variants of the units that are available for sales? Or did you leave them alone?

Adam Eselon told no one out side of his wife or his descendents of where he got the technology from that he passed on to others. First he did not want to be a target for others to take the memory core from him and second he wanted others to think that all of the advanced technology ideas was from his own work. He learned very early on that the more you know and the less others knew the more the advantage was to you.
Assinine Industries supplies all of their customers with a full line of replacement parts. They dont make parts for anything that they dont use their own production lines.
There are a few variants to some of the equipment that Assinine Industries sells.
