Johnson 'Mechworks Inc. suffered another tragic defeat this weekend, this time at tabletop gaming convention LegioCon 2016 in Winnipeg.

The event was a Solaris VII-style arena match, featuring 6 'Mechs, ranging from 70-100 tons. JMInc. was handed an earlier elimination in 2 previous events with the monstrous Gorgoroth--a powerful design that proved to be poorly suited to the arena battlefield.

JimCon 2014 saw the Gorgoroth the first of the competors to be eliminated, suffering from poor aim and falling to a merciless hail of SRMs. JimCon 2015 was somewhat better...the Gorgoroth head-capped 2 'Mechs in as many rounds before being executed by combined firepower from 3 other 'Mechs.

For LegioCon, JMInc. entered a more specialized design, tagged the Pudge; a 100-ton beast mounting a full load of Hardened Armour and a pair of Heavy PPCs with Capacitors. The plan was to deliver an unrelenting 20-point punch every round while shrugging off incoming fire. Once again, the JMInc. pilot had trouble, missing twice on relatively easy shots (misses on 7 and 5). In return, the Pudge took 4 hits in 4 rounds, including a Medium X-Pulse laser and Heavy PPC to the Head, being the first eliminated with a grand total of 37 damage.

*sigh*

Might not be the designs, but the pilots having issues.

What were the maps like terrain wise?

Thinking more of the player gaining the anger of the others in the arena, and they are ganging up on him, as he has stated the design had won 2 times previously. Oh yeah. Not supposed to read that in another thread.

Now does that mean you will be looking for ams since you know the srm king will be back?

And one last thing, Luck does screw with people. Taking 37 points of head damage from 2 weapons does not mean the unit bites. It just means luck was on someones side. Good on theirs, bad on yours.
Missing on a 5 does bite, but it does happen. It is possible you may have one had one of those misses hit and head capped an enemy. Then again, it may have just did armor damage.

It is possible the others agreed to remove your unit from the fight as some of the other designs you had may have forced them to deal with you first.

But it does bite to see your unit fall when playing.
