A 'Mech with an interesting history. After several failed projects aimed at making use of unconventional [Read: Inferno] munitions, the scientists at Rebel Solutions Incorporated constructed this. The Sunfire is a 60-ton close combat 'Mech which mounts 4x SRM 4's loaded with 3-tons of ammo each. That ammo is a mix of 1-ton Inferno and 2-tons Heat-Seeking. CASE II provides protection for the arm mounted magazines, and the pilot. A Snub-Nose PPC provides a backup weapon once all 24 full volleys are fired. An extra shot of Inferno ammo can be a nasty surprise for vehicles or infantry, however.
Twelve and a half tons of Standard MiliTech Mobius Armor and a 250 Death Designer Customs Light Fusion Engine give the 'Mech ample speed and protection from enemy fire while twelve double heat sinks allow it to shoot and move with impunity. The Sunfire's glaring weakness is it's ammo dependency, further exasperated by it's reliance on specialty munitions.
The Sunfire was a seldom produced 'Mech, and only a few were ever made. Most found their way to Solaris, although a few ended up with House Liao as well as the retinue of some of House Steiner's more eccentric commanders.
