Say, does anyone here still play BT: CHI at all? That used to be an awesome game, until it sucked big time...

Just curious

It didn't have enough depth for me. I mean, after I maxed out the stats of all my characters, and after I suped up all of my 'mechs, there wasn't much to do anymore. The puzzle at the end was also excruciatingly difficult (no wonder those caches are so hard to find!).

But, it was STARTING to be a good game.

Maybe, one of these days, we can make a new game that uses all of the features of the original, plus a lot more. I think that putting MechWarrior 1 and CHI together is a pretty good start.

Hell, just take the original Mechwarrior and remake it with to handle today's machines... I'll buy it, and if you make it multiplayer I'll buy as many copies as it will handle at once. My boss might not like the fact that I'm coming into work with only 3 hours of sleep every day, but a man's got tohave his priorities!

Online BTech death matches? THAT would be kewl
Then add a good adventure/action plot for single player (or co-op multi)...dang, I'm getting excited now...get a group of people online, organized into a lance or company, aiming for a common goal...hmmmmmmm

I really need to take up programming again...

Crescent Hawk's Inception.

I most had fun hexing it to turn my Stinger into an Atlas. The game actually had the full Tech 1 weapons table.

I knew that I had heard of it before. Wonder why I didn't think of that first? Oh, well. The game was before my time with BTech so that's why I must have forgot. Thanks, Bob.

why an Atlas, specifically? I mean, I know it kicks a**, but it's a little ammo dependent for that game...I would have thought an Awesome would work better...just as effective against 20 tonners, and no ammo to buy

btw...did you ever try to take the Stinger/Atlas into the arena?

Mechwarrior 4 isn't Btech. Don't you dare continue to insult Btech by claiming it is.

The last online game that was close enough to be called battletech was MPBT3025.

MW2 was ok... not great, not realy good, just ok. the Mercs expansion was the best of MW2, and that was just "good enough" (failed to live up to the high standard set by the original MechWarrior).

Besides, MW2 involved the clans too much. (yes, I dislike the clans).

I agree. I've always wanted to do a "Mechwarrior Redux" Basically, use modern techniques and live-action video to take the original Mechwarrior and turn it into something modern and spectacular.=

Of course, I have neither the money nor the rights. Grr.

yea the original mechwarrior was fun; i used to have htis one CD with both Crescent Hawks on it and the original MEchwarrior on it (called "Powerhits: BattleTech" if i remember correctly). Not that it would run slow enough on this computer anyways, cuz i dont recall that the AtSlow utility on the disk had a setting for k6-2 266 with 256 megs o that goodly silicone known as RAM

I can probably get you a fully functional computer based on an 80286 processor if you really want something that can handle Mechwarrior properly.

Somebody needs to make a windows-based utility that makes a slow "virtual DOS 286" window for these things to run in. Hm.

I'm fairly certain there are Amiga/Commadore 64/286/386/486 emulators out there. I'll take a gander and report back tomorrow... also if you just want a 386 machine I have two in the closet here.... or if anyone needs say a 5 & a quarter drive in the Pentium Gigahertz machines I have a few... They are quite the conversation starters... hehe
