The commander of the unit stood over the astech's body, pondering. The astech's head was crushed from behind, the bloodied actuator wrench on the ground near his shoulder. Just like that other one 6 months ago. Back then he thought it had been an enemy scout who'd gotten into his base. He'd doubled the guard, and that had been that.
But now they were on anouther planet, doing maneuvers on a continent owned by the millitary and used for just such exercises. There wasn't even a settlement for a thousand miles.
That meant that one of his own people was the killer. Worse, this killer had struck before and therefore was almost certain to strike again.......
