Sounds like the roads here in Michigan on a good day.

I remember one like that here n Winnipeg a number of years ago...the street just collapsed under a cargo van...dropped it about 10' straight down
It wqasn't full of water tho...

At least the road was paved. I've seen worse.

LoL, I totally agree with you there. Going from frozen solid, to warm and sunny, to frozen solid again, all in under 3 weeks really seems to take a toll of the roads. Hence Chicago incredible need for TOLL roads. hahahaha, I crack me up. But as the saying goes, "Chicago has two seasons...winter and road construction"

Down here in Atlanta, GA, we had a huge pothole open up underneath a dump truck. It was slanted and the front of the truck was below the street.
Man it was a sight to see, it blocked traffic for the entire day, most of it trying to get the truck oput of the hole.

Those are more commonly called 'sink holes'. Examples of larger sink holes would be something like in South Africa. Where they mine for gold or diamonds they used Geophysasists to make sure no local villages disappear down a 'sink hole' after they pump the water out of the water table near the mine (some villages were built on top of a large body of water so removing the water meant there was nothing holding it up). The example of the dump truck was a smaller example of a similar principle.
In europe recently they had been flooded for sometime, that hole had probably been caused during that and when the water went away the first car that went through is what you see .

No, we have four seasons. Unfortunately, we tend to get them all in the same day.

sinkholes arent likely to form in Ga. tho. the reason for it lies in their geography. unlike the sinkhole regions of central and south florida, northern florida and most anything on up from there have hard, rocky/clay soil, which doesnt sink easily. Sinkholes form easiest in places where the soil is sandy or the land was once under water (see:central florida). and also, atlanta is in a somewhat high elevation (for SE US anyways) so i believe that this had more to do with something like a waterpipe bursting or something else that could cause a large hole to open up.
