------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ==Capabilities:== Mounting an impressive array of weapons, the Titan can stop most mechs dead at 600 meters with only a few salvos. Mounted in the right arm is a pair of large pulse lasers and in the left is the massive bore of a Gauss rifle. Arrayed accross the right breast are 3 LRM-15 launchers like campaign medals that can fire 45 missiles in very tight patterns. Below the LRMs is a NARC beacon to improve missile accuracy, standard doctrine calls for the Titan to be assigned a light mech as spotter with its own NARC launcher. For close in defense, the Titan mounts a single ER small laser.

Opinions? I wanted to combine a large array of LRMs with a ballistic weapon and some energy weapons. I experimented with PPCs, but the heat was too much in my opinion. But you could switch out the pulse for the ER PPCs if you like to run hot.

Use standard PPC's in place of the ER version or Pulse Lasers. It would be able to fire all it's long range weapons and bearly over heat. It would lack close range weapons, but 80 potentional points of damage at long range is nasty.
Edit: Forgive my rambling. I thought this was an Inner Sphere design.

Not bad.
However, a few things: using an ER PPC in place of the Gauss Rifle would allow you to mount a Standard Engine for enhanced survivability, plus a few more heat sinks to dissipate the additional heat.
The LRMs are nice, but I have to ask...why the NARC? The Clans don't have access to the funky NARC pods (Explosive, Bola, etc) and since it is 3 tons and 3 crits, you could replace the NARC beacon with Artemis IV designators to get the same result. The advantage there is that you get the +2 modifier at all ranges, not just when they have been NARCed.
I'd also be tempted to give it Endo Steel or Ferro-Fibrous (whichever works best) to provide additinal mass for Double Heat Sinks.
Of course, there is something to be said about having a character for your designs. The suggestions I have given turn it from a characterful (if somewhat odd) machine into a pure munchmobile...
Yea, verily. Let it be known far and wide that Nightward loathes MW: DA. Indeed, it is with the BURNING ANIMUS OF A THOUSAND SUNS that he doth rage against it with.

It WOULD be interesting to replace the Gauss with a Rotary AC/5 and replace the larges with ER PPCs...but then the LRMs get a lot heavier...I doubt you could effectively replace the missile damage and still have the heat dissipation.
On the other hand, the weight freed up by switching weapons could be used to increase the engine size (or go to a Light engine) or add some jump jets.
Yes, I realize this is a Clan design. Just thinking how the Inner Sphere might attempt to duplicate it...if it can.

Interesting and nice apporach you took. It fits in with other assaults and could be seen as one of the numerous mechs that finialized in the Grand Titian or something like that. An idea more or less.
Overall I like the fluff and it adds something to the mech in that it is more to the machine then numbers and weapons. Well done.

My only complaint is that it is a second line 'mech with an XL. That is a lot of resources for a secondline 'mech, very un-clan like. Replace the GR with an ERPPC and upgrade the small laser to a medium. It will cause some heat trouble, but you could replace the LPLs with ER Larges and add 4 more heat sinks.

Each clan would do what it thought was needed to give it's secondline stuff an edge or to make it better...

Why would they give that engine to a second linner when it could be used to power a Dire Wolf? Second line stuff is not as good, that is why it is second line.

True, but they may not have Dire Wolves and they made have a need for the secondline machine to have the XL and here is another thought, the mech could have started off with the XL from the early SL version OR was made after the Exodus Civil War was over with to fill a need for a mech.

Titan was the original name for the Grand Titan, an IS 100t assault. one of my personal favorites actually. 4/6 movement arm mounted LRM15 and the other sports dual Large pulse lasers. a med pulse is sitting on each shoulder and I belieeve there are dual srm6 racks in the torsos. been awhile since I actually read the read out

Actually the Titan was in the semi-official/non-official depending on how you took the zine, BATTLETECHNOLOIGES. It never mentions any thing remotely close to tie it to the FWL mech.
