Hail!
At the request of Sillywiz I am conducting a "newbie" Battletech Tournament. (This is basically for everyone who hasn't played in a LONG time as well as people who have never played).
This Tournament will be conducted on the gNet.
In order to participate you will need to download the GatlingEnging Program and assistance programs at the following link and acquire a screen name.

You can do all of the following at this link for FREE: http://www.ccgworkshop.com/downloads.jsp

Tournament:
You have until 21st September 2003 to submit a 60 card deck to
me:championofsolaris@hotmail.com
(don't forget the sideboard)

Also could you please post a reply to this thread at this link confirming your intention to participate: http://www.ccgworkshop.com/forum/index.php?t=msg&th=1725&start=0&rid=&S=60205c035570516c34f3e57e6b93dc85
After the deck deadline is complete I shall review all decks for
legality and return those that don't pass.
Decks found to be in violation shall have 5 days (26th September) to be corrected and re-submitted or else they are disqualified.

The tournament shall last for 14 days (Start 28th Sept, Finish 12th October)in which time five rounds/matches should be completed.

Each match will be the best of 3 games, with sideboards available after the first match.

Due to the complex nature of running a tournament over a two week period, the opposition for each round, will be randomly determined, based on the number of players, BEFORE the tournament starts. This random determination will take place sometime over the weekend of the 26 - 28th Sept. This will also give players flexability to play matches.
COS will adverstise when this will take place, so that participants can review the draw. (Most likely to be draing names and rolling die)/

E.g.
opponent 1 shall battle opponent
7 round one,
4 round two,
17 round three

and so on. If you are unable to complete your games because of time or incompatibility your matches shall be considered draw for scoring.

Scoring, wining a match (best of 3 games) will score 2 points, Losing scores 0, a draw will score 1 point.

After the conclusion of this section, the top 4 players will go into the semi finals. This is to give some element of randomness and challenge (besides we don't want the winner getting an easy ride! .
The semi and finals will be played over the following week (13 - 20th October).
If there are ties for 3rd or fourth place, then tie breaker games will be used.

Regular updates of matches scores and overall points totals will be posted in the forum each day.

It is expected that all match offers will be made with 'Tournament' Status, and not casual or ranked.

Rules:
All currently banned cards from the battletech gNet card pool are
excluded from the tournament

BANNED!
(all alliances, Dasher D, Elitemechwarrior, Effective Groundwork, Nightsky, Disguised Coordinates, Task Force Serpent).

PLAYABLE
However, Dasher D Reloaded, Effective Groundwork Reloaded, Elite Mechwarrior Reloaded, Disguised Coordinates Reloaded, Task Force Serpent Reloaded are all playable, using the wording on the cards.

Your Deck MUST include exactly 8 cards for the sideboard or no sideboard at all. (don't forget to include these when you email your deck!)
In accordance with DCI rules you may substitute ONE for ONE the cards from this sideboard with any cards from your deck durning games 2 and 3 of the match.
Please check the current Rule book avaliable from the HELP menue in .PDF format before constructing your deck for basic rules of construction.

1. no more than 6 of any one card

2. unique cards can only occur ONCE per deck unless they are contained in another "persona" of the same person. i.e. Kai Allard Laioand Kai "Champion of Solaris" can be in a deck at the same time, however two copies of Kai "CoS" would make your deck illegal.

3. remember basic construction ratio's in your deck building; for best results stick as close to possible 24 units 24 resources 12 "other cards...missions & commands".

thank you!~
cheers,
CoS
