Not a bad way of explaining the new appearances.
So to all those who dislike any MW:DA mech design: It is the WOB's fault! Kill them!!
On further examination, the Caplleans are also to blame. As if we needed more reason to smite them.

One more link per month.
I like the designs, and the art. They don't look much like the originals (except the thunderbolt) but that's to be expected. These I will add to my collection as soon as Iron Wind puts them in my local gamestore.
And I really apreciate CBT for bringing the unseen back.

Actually, you're right on that point...... I would have like the laser to be underslung, though. It also looked a lot more beefy, which I like.

I think they all resemble the originals very well, enough to look close enough for use and different enough to not get in trouble again.
Thunderbolt does look the most like the original, but the Pheonix Hawk looks pretty darn close as well. That Marauder though sure resembles the Penetrator. And that Locust new look is sweat....

Wow! It's great to see the Unseen...err...Seen back in the game. They look similar to their original forms (except the Marauder, which looks like the evil twin brother of the Caesar), but I'll reserve judgement until I see the new Shadow Hawk and Wolverines.
Yea, verily. Let it be known far and wide that Nightward loathes MW: DA. Indeed, it is with the BURNING ANIMUS OF A THOUSAND SUNS that he doth rage against it with.

No, others have complained about them, but it does seem odd that you speak in anger against those molded in plastic, yet compliment these written on paper. I expect the two categories will merge into one (especially considering the fluff text on these remakes).

I don't follow the connection you are making here. The Unseen being returned with new art is more important then MWDA.
IF they become clicky bases plastic toys then that is up to WK. I have NO plans on buying them that way and will hope that Iron Winds Miniatures has plans for pewter versions...
So could you please explain you point since you have LOST me on what is you were trying to tell me.

Looking at the new Marauder it seems that the big changes were that they took the gun off the top of the mech and put it down in the torso and lost the NOSE that stuck out on it...so it looks squater but it still has the feel of the original I think.
And I took can't wait to see the Shadow Hawk and the Wolverine!

Excellent and over on Rick's Heavy Metal board it has been hinted at that WK is trying to put some distance between MWDA and BT and to them having click based versions of the Original mechs is not the path their marketing department wants to go and they feel it would be a step backwards.
So it seems we have our UNSEEN back and that is a major improvement.

My line of thinking is that you (and plenty of others) were opposed to the new looks of the MWDA mechs as much as to the gameplay and size issues. Maybe the point I am trying to make is a bit more subtle that I realized, but I suspect that the same Atlas you spoke against will be in this sourcebook, as well as the SRM Black Hawk and other twists on classic and semi-classic designs.

The MWDA mechs look very childish/cartoonish when compared to the mechs of CBT. The mechs from "classic" look more realistic, or at least as realistic as a 10 meter tall walking tank from the 31st century can.
All the mechs for MWDA I've seen have exagerated features that look retarded. Such as the huge missile packs on the Black Hawk, the "hatchet" that is as big as the Hatchetman, and those butt-ugly spikey pads on the Atlas (And that big round head on the Atlas too).
In comparison the "new" 'Unseen" mechs look positively awesome.

At last they're back!!! The unseens are my all time favorites(for the most part) and I love that they're back. I'm a little sad that they had to be redrawn but given the circumstances I understand and will definately buy them all.
Besides the ones already mentioned, which ones are also coming back? All of them, most of them, the most popular? I'd like to see them all come back including even the quad unseens. (But not the Ost variants, those are the only unseens I don't like)

I just did up the 4 new designs on TDB, and noticed a couple errors printed on the CBT page:
1) the Phoenix Hawk is over-armoured. It carries 8 tons Stealth armour (128 points, as stated), but the detailed armour distribution adds up to 132, and places more than the legal max on the CT 2) the Marauder does not use Endo Steel as indicated in the readout at the bottom. If you go by the listed details, you end up short 8 crits, and only 71.5 tons!
I'll post them on the designs board shortly.

1) The PXH-4L's armor values are indeed incorrect. I'll bring it up with someone. Since low head armor is a Phoenix Hawk "Feature", I'd drop the head armor to 6 and the rear CT armor to 5, this makes it legal, though I'm not sure if it's correct. 2) You're right, it doesn't. That would be why it's listed at the full mass. I'll bring it up with someone.

Yep. What that means to me is that they can now start printing fiction that has Maraders without getting sued. The new players in BT will have the mental image of the new design in thier heads, but people like me (and presumably you) will always have the old image in our minds. This also answers the question of what Grayson Death Carlyle, Cat Wilson (from the Kell Hounds), the Bounty Hunter, and numerous other people will be piloting in the new fiction. No changing of 'Mechs nessesary.
The new mini's coming out become my designs. I have a 65 ton level 1 design with 2 large lasers, 2 med lasers and a PPC over the shoulder that, being my design, I haven't had a mini for until now.

I can understand why they are changing the looks of Locust, Maurader, Weenie (Phoenix) Hawk (I didn't like the 3025 version, too much heat), etc. They had problems with lawsuits. Why are they going to change the others, like the Archer and Bmaster? I don't remember seeing them in the lawsuits? And frankly, I dont see why everyone is so excited about this, given the fact that the lawsuit says that they will not publish anymore TRO's with the mechs mentioned in the lawsuit. They are still tourney legal, and I have 5 (read that, five) mini's of all the lawsuit ones (one for each house). What's the big deal?

Actually you have some incorrect info....all but a handful of the 3025 mechs were from other Anmie shows like Macross, Sun of the Fangdogurm etc...(The Archer is from Robotech and the Bmaster is from Dougrm) FASA took Playmate Toy Company to court over the Exo-Squad robots which looked a lot like some of the mechs and one looked just like the Mad Cat. They won that case. Then Harmony Gold jumped in and the case went out of control so FASA felt it was best to remove all NON-FASA drawn mechs so as to avoid the problem. The mechs as you said are still legal to use in games and tournments, it the artwork that is not allowed to be used.
The problem was a lot of the newer players had never seen the art work and had no clue as to what the mechs looked like.
Plus a lot of the fans were requesting that WK/FP get the pictures back or redraw them. So they did something about it and we have the new art work. Which is a good thing I think since it shows the older fans that they their mechs are just as important as the newer ones and it allows the new players the chance to get the older mechs without paying $30 a miniature on Ebay for the original ones. And seeing how the older miniatures are still able to be used no one is left out.

I thought the Mad Cat is still in the revised edition of 3050. And as for the other mechs, I guess I only heard about the 4 (Locust, Weenie, Maruader, and Munchhammer) I didn't know that the 16 unseen were all taken out because of the lawsuit. It's really too bad that lawyers everything in the country!

The Mad Cat is because they won that lawsuit, the rest went because some did look like the Robotech mecha even though there are newier pics of them for the RPG out while all of this was going on...they pulled all of the rest like the Golitah and such to avoid anyone else suing them.
