==Overview:==
The TRH-1X TigerHawk was proposed to the SLDF as a replacement for the aging
but popular Shadow Hawk. While its performance was clearly superior to that
the older 'Mech, the SLDF declined to purchase the 'Mech on the grounds that it
would require a significant reworking of their logistical network.
==Capabilities:==
The TigerHawk easily matches the Shadow Hawk's groundspeed, and has a great
jump capacity (150m compared to 90m on the SHD-2H) This puts it well within
range of maneuverability favored by today's militaries for 55-ton 'Mechs. Its
armaments, while perhaps unimpressive by today's standards, are at least
reliable and moderately effective. Between the Holly LRM racks mounted in the
torsos and the Martell Medium Lasers in the wrists, they were easily a match
for the Shadow Hawk at any range.
[ed: The Shadow Hawk is typically prized for its versatility: the ability t
deliver fire at any range without overheating.]
==Battle History:==
One complaint levied by the SLDF's design review board was that this machine,
unlike the Shadow Hawk, had the ability to "overheat when placed in the hands
of less competant pilots."
To prove that this concern was unfounded, the prototype TigerHawks were
fielded, with two medium lasers and one LRM rack disabled, against two Shadow
Hawks in a mock combat. The battle continued for several minutes, but
eventually the Tiger Hawk's superior weaponry won the day, proving once and for
all that its capacity for overheat provided only advantages against the Shadow
Hawk.
==Variants:==
A variant offered to the SLDF, but never produced, would have replaced two
the TigerHawk's Martell Medium Lasers with two Cryotech Mark X Heat
Exchangers. This would have eliminated concerns regarding "overheat problem
which lingered in the face of all evidence to the contrary.
==Deployment==
Only two prototypes were produced, and their whereabouts are unknown.
