On page 246 of TRO:3039, the MON-68 is listed as a Combine variant that downgrades the engine to a GM 175 and replaces all of the weaponry with a single Diverse Optics Type 30 large laser in the right arm.  However, in the Mongoose article on here, the MON-68 is listed as an SRM-armed version courtesy of RS:3050u.  I don't have access to the latter, so I don't know which is right.  Anyone?  GOLFisNOTaSPORT (talk) 07:45, 16 April 2014 (PDT)

:The MON-69 from p. 228 of RS:3050 Upgrades Unabridged (Clan and Star League) uses an SRM 2 in place of the Beagle Probe and has a BV of 737; the MON-68 from p. 58 of RS:3050 Upgrade (Clan and Star League) also uses an SRM 2 in place of the Beagle Active probe, although it has less armor than the MON-69. There's also a MON-68 on page 405 of RS: 3039 Unabridged, and that looks like the Combine variant with the large laser and has a BV of 676. :::I've taken a look on the Master Unit List and the MON-68 variant it cites is from RS: 3039 Unabridged, with the MON-69 it cites coming from RS:3050 Upgrades Unabridged - which makes me think that the MON-68 from RS: 3050 Upgrade has been superceded. An Ask the Writers question is probably needed to sort it out definitively, though. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 00:44, 17 April 2014 (PDT)

Which variant of the Mongoose is depicted in the picture above the info box? The text for the base MON-66 model says that the weapon loadout consists of 3 medium lasers split between both arms and the center torso (implying 1 laser in each location) and 1 small laser in the head. While most of that fits the picture, you can clearly see that there are two weapons/tubes in his right arm, so, is this picture from a currently not added variant that has 2 lasers - or a (Streak-)SRM-2 - in the right arm or is this picture simply inaccurate?

At first I thought that the 'Mech pictured maybe is a MON-69, given that one has a SRM-2 in an unnamed location, though no laser is dropped there, hence I presume this isn't the case either.

:Hey Sergy, the art is that of the original MON-66 from Technical Readout: 2750, the first appearance of the Mongoose and the second ever TRO published. What this means is that yes the image is a MON-66 and yes early art was still pretty bad and some of the other 'Mechs have even worse problems.--Dmon (talk) 06:31, 1 September 2019 (EDT)
