The novel is about the retaking of the planet [[Liao]] from the [[Republic of the Sphere]] by the [[Capellan Confederation]].

*This book physically stands out from the line of MWDA novels because it was printed in a larger format (crown octavo 5 3/8" x 8" / 13.5 x 20cm) than all the other MWDA novels, including subsequent publications, for unknown reasons. According to hearsay,<ref>As told to [[User:Frabby]] by a source from CGL who expressly added the caveat that it was secondhand information</ref> the change from mass market paperback to trade paperback was a one-book experiment the publisher had decided on without consulting anyone else.
