He is going to be married to Najiyah, daughter of the Caliph of Rajirr, to cement a political marriage. Shareeza knows that as a lowly dancer, she is no marriage candidate. She and Badr, though lovers, are both professionals and are prepared to do their duty. As such, Shareeza, in fact a spy from the [[Magistracy of Canopus]], regretfully follows her orders to assassinate Badr despite bearing his child, and plants false evidence to frame the Caliphate of Rajirr.
