It has nothing to do with gorillas. Also, anyone who understands Chinese would immediately understand from context that the “xin” in “Xin Singapore” is meant to be 新 and not 猩, just as any English speaker immediately knows that “baring your soul” has nothing to do with ursids or the bottom of your shoe. <- Mandarin speaker whose entire family is Singaporean − P.S. - The name would make more sense as Singapura Baru or simply New Singapore, but as it is, it's odd, but perfectly comprehensible.{{Unsigned|Wunjilau}}
