The CCS '''''Windrunner''''' was an ''[[Essex]]''-class destroyer and in [[3061]] was a part of the [[Clan Coyote]] ''[[touman]]'', assigned to the [[Clan Coyote Touman#Naval Reserve|Alpha Naval Reserve]].<ref name="FM:WCp48">''Field Manual: Warden Clans'', p. 48, "Naval Assets"</ref>

During the [[Wars of Reaving]] the ''Windrunner'' was involved in one of the Coyote encounters with the fractured Kindraa of [[Clan Fire Mandrill]]. In response to the trading and information exchanges going on between the Coyotes and [[Kindraa Mattila-Carrol]] which secured the Coyotes an enclave on the world of [[Shadow]]. This enclave was the subject of repeated trials from other Kindraa, first a combined task force drawn from [[Kindraa Mick-Kreese-Kline]], [[Kindraa Sainze]] and [[Kindraa Faraday-Tanaga]], and then in late [[3069]] [[Kindraa Payne-Beyl-Grant]].<ref name="WoRp38+">''The Wars of Reaving'', p. 38-39, "Stalking the Desert"</ref>

It was this latter conflict that the ''Windrunner'' was directly involved in; although the ''Windrunner'' hadn't been a part of the Coyotes declared defense of the Shadow enclave, it reached orbit during the peak of the battle between the Coyote and Payne-Beyl-Grant forces. The Fire Mandrill WarShip [[Reaver|CFM ''Reaver'']] responded to the ''Windrunner's'' presence by exchanging a broadside pass with the Coyote WarShip. The Coyotes promptly responded by declaring the Payne-Beyl-Grant forces to be ''[[dezgra]]'' and wiping out the Fire Mandrill forces.<ref name="WoRp38+"/>

''Windrunner'' was also involved in the Coyote campaign to seize [[Clan Diamond Shark]] holdings on [[Vinton]] in August [[3073]]. The battle for Vinton carried on into [[3074]], and in January a swarm consisting of several small craft and fourteen DropShips - including two [[Inner Sphere]] pattern ''[[Excalibur (DropShip class)|Excalibur]]''-class DropShips - launched from the Diamond Shark base at the pole and launched a counterstrike against the [[Blood of the Coyote|CCS ''Blood of the Coyote'']]. The ''Blood of the Coyote'' took heavy damage from the assault, and when the ''Windrunner'' intervened the ''Blood of the Coyote'' took the opportunity to withdraw.<ref name="WoRp130">''The Wars of Reaving'', p. 130, "Vengeance on Vinton"</ref>

''Windrunner'' finally left the Vinton system in July 3074, after the Coyotes and their [[Society]] allies had stripped Vinton of materials and resources, removed those civilians selected for deportation and abandoned the remaining civilian population to die. As a parting act, the ''Windrunner'' bombarded several of the larger cities on Vinton, and the resulting wildfires swept across the dry surface of the planet, leaving it burning in the Coyotes' wake.<ref name="WoRp131">''The Wars of Reaving'', p. 131, "Vengeance on Vinton"</ref> 

''Windrunner'' was not listed within the Coyote ''touman'' by [[3085]],<ref name="WoRp165">''The Wars of Reaving'', p. 165, "WarShips"</ref> indicating that the ship was most likely destroyed or abandoned during the Wars of Reaving.
