The Thirty-eighth Marik Militia was one of a dozen regiments of the Marik Militia to be raised in the period between the eruption of the Amaris Civil War in 2765 and the onset of the First Succession War in 2786. The Thirty-eighth was stationed on Augustine in 2786.

Thirty-eighth Marik Militia was stationed on Augustine in 2786 and by 2821 they were on Kristiandsund.

First Succession War
The Thirty-eighth was one of the regiments of the Marik Militia that took part in Captain-General Kenyon Marik's famous "path to Sarna" offensive in the opening stages of the First Succession War. Operating alongside the Nineteenth and Twentieth Marik Militias, the Thirty-ninth landed on Second Chance during the first wave of the campaign in February 2787. Defending Second Chance at the time were the Twentieth Liao Lancers, a newly-formed regiment mustered to defend Ramen II, but which had been redeployed to Second Chance after the Third Tikonov Lancers had been reassigned to annexing worlds within the Terran Hegemony in 2785. Also in the Second Chance system was a naval picket from the Sarna Commonality Squadron, consisting of the Du Shi Wang-class battleship CCS Mica Liao and the Soyal-class heavy cruiser CCS Solstice.

The Marik Militia task force was escorted by a Free Worlds League Navy force consisting of the FWLS Sorunda, an Atreus-class battleship, and two League II-class destroyers, the FWLS Ospina and FWLS Otavalo. The Capellan WarShips made an in-system jump to engage the League forces as they began their in-system burn, deploying attack DropShips in close proximity to themselves. The Ospina was lost almost immediately to a mass driver shot from the Solstice, but the Sorunda moved to engage the Mica Liao while the Otavalo led a contingent of attack DropShips in an attack that crippled the Solstice. The battle swiftly escalated, as the Sorunda used aerospace fighters equipped with nuclear weapons to destroy the Mica Liao, prompting the Sorunda to launch a last attack of her own, also using nuclear weapons.

The swift destruction of the Capellan naval forces caused panic amongst the planetary government, who began efforts to flee from Second Chance along with their families, while Colonel Mila Palmer of the Lancers attempted desperately to hold the regiment together. The planetary government ended up effectively obstructing Palmer's efforts to rally her forces, leading to a third of the Lancers deserting immediately after discovering that the government was redeploying the local conventional forces to the major port cities of Sevarias and Sweethaven to cover their own flight from the planet. When the League task force arrived in orbit, the captain of the Sorunda detected the DropShip activity at Sweethaven and misinterpreted it as an attempt to launch an attack on his ships; the resulting orbital bombardment conducted by the Sorunda levelled the area, killing Duke Maynard Stott - the planetary governor - his Security Minister. Haley Fernando, three conventional CCAF regiments and four Union-class transport DropShips assigned to the Lancers, along with the majority of Second Chance's ruling elite. Left as the senior official on the planet, Colonel Palmer reluctantly acquiesced to the call from General Matias Rosenkov of the Militia for his forces to surrender.

By 2821 the Thirty-eighth was stationed on Kristiandsund.
