"Generic text about the difference in Member & Admin's Awards"
The following text is temporary, for the purposes of explaining the awards system.
The two categories of ribbons will start off with similar awards, differing in quality (admin ribbons are larger and sharper in detail) and in who awards them. A few exceptions on the list will exist (at first) on the admins' side, with certain hi-level awards only available as admin awards. Later, as the needs of the community expand, the list of member-awarded ribbons will grown, with some that are more specific in nature.
Member-awarded ribbons are just that: one Editor decides another Editor warrants a ribbon for actions taken, articles built, research done, editing completed, enhancements made, etc. There are some humorous awards, some general. There will also be a precedence set, as to which award is higher.
Admin-awarded ribbons will be for similar achievements, acts, etc, but - because they brought the attention of an admin - will bear a bit more weight/honor.
While members and admins will award individual ribbons on the user's talk page for each award, the user can display the awards (and comments) that came with them on his userpage, if s/he wants. However, to help keep the user page from becoming cluttered, a recipient can display stars & pips to represent additional awards: a gold star for each additional award and a silver star for each set of three additional awards. Pips would represent the tenth additional award.
Some awards currently envisioned (precedence of lower-to-higher): A - Admin ribbon M - Member ribbon
- Random Act of Kindness Ribbon (A,M) - no particular reason
- Surreal Ribbon (A,M) - an editor with a flair for making things interesting (in a positive way)
- Minor Commendation (A,M) - often-overlooked, but necessary, tasks
- Good Humor Ribbon (A,M) - awarded to particularly light-spirited Members
- General Commendation (A,M) - particularly fine contributions to BTW
- Editor's Ribbon (A,M) - for examples of fine deletions, re-spellings, word-crafting, etc., of previously-established articles
- Image Import Ribbon (A,M) - dedication to the uploading of images to articles
- Anti-Vandalism (A,M) - awarded for saving BTW from the scourge of
- Repetition Ribbon (A,M) - dedicated effort on a laborious or repetitive task
- Diligence Ribbon (A,M) - recognition for detail, precision AND community service.
- Tireless Contributor (A,M) - contribution of especially large body of work without sacrificing quality
